Hi Guys,

Yesterday I received a couple of Pm's from traders showing me their drawdowns on my set file. Heck, one guy even loaded the Ea onto 18 pairs and showed me his drawdown of 1000 pips

Why, why, why I ask myself, when I repeatedly mentioned that I concentrate mostly on the majors and do not load the ea on more than 3 pairs at a time. You would want to trade this Ea the way you would on your live account and if you don't abide by this rule, you are surely signing your own death wish...

As the ea should have 5 trades at most and with 3 pairs it is obvious that you could have 15 trades open at any given time. That already is alot of trades. Can you handle that on your live account? you should ask yourself.

Generally the ea will close losers around 25 pips. 15 x 25 = 375 pips. Can you handle that on your live account? you should ask yourself.

Importantly, as some of you may have noticed. Generally across the board, pairs opened the week with opening Gaps. Now, there is a forsaken forex rule that these gaps will be filled at some point and low and behold this happened yesterday in the New York session and it took less than 2 days to fill these gaps. Was it wise to have Ea's running in this time? I think not.

Just yesterday I was looking at EurUsd and GbpUsd where we had a juicy pullback with Trend buy arrows on the 1hr time frame. Was I tempted to load the Ea onto the chart? Of course. Did I do that? No.

I am not saying that we are having trend reversals, but the possibilities are there. Most ea's do not perform well with swing reversals and the idea for me is to get out before it is too late by taking my losses.And of course it is not easy to predict reversals. When we get back into a consistant trend rythm I will load the ea's again.

Lastly, it is the second last day of the month and we could see volatile days ahead.

I agree with Leon.

If we could chuck an EA and/or set file you offer up on a chart or charts and watch it take us to the promised land I am sure as hell you wouldn't be sitting here telling us all about it.

Having said that it is incumbant on us all to test out the infinite variations as the holy grail may be hidden in there.....you just have to find it.

An EA can have us trade without fear but that does not = recklessness. You are still in control.

I have had lots of tests running this past week and feel I am starting to make some progress with some refinements.

I have added BE and Jumping SL to this set which enables more pairs and/or tighter grid with lower risk so the grid is now adjusted to current timeframe. I have kept a wide 300pip SL and increased TP to a speculative 1000pips (the jumping SL will close out most of the time in normal operation but if there is a sudden big move which sometimes occur in direction of D1 then the 1000pip TP should ensure we get paid).

With the above money management my tests are currently working better without Buy Low/Sell High or Sixths which is interesting so I have gone back to just D1 CSS as the directional filter in this set.

Here are closed trades for this week so far...

A couple more points I forgot.. the above set uses the original period 7 for D1 Superslope rather than 5. I was trying to match the Superslope to Flying Buddha when using 5 but that was kinda pointless since Flying Buddha is based on EMA whereas Superslope is based on TMA. Using 7 for SuperSlope seems to offer a better balance between fast response and false signals so that is why I have switched back.

Also for anyone experimenting with the set file I posted you will need to change the Size of Dollop from 1000 to X000 where X is the number of pairs you are testing it on. So 5 pairs I would suggest 5,000 etc otherwise you may run out of margin rather quickly.

The latest version of this EA is available in post 1.

All these updates do is tidy up the bloops I introduced by adding a new input to HGBnDnSSnFB and the way the inputs are displayed to the user. You do not need them if you are happy with what you already have.

I have also updated the user guide attached to post 1 in the http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 39#p145239 thread.

Thank you for all the work you have been doing with these updates Steve. It's really appreciated and in many ways it's unbelievable how quickly we can now go from just an idea to an efficient working EA whose profits are only limited by it's users ability.
