Digest of Steve's weekly round-ups

Post by SteveHopwood »

Idempotent suggested I keep a permanent record of the rounds-up/heads-up information that is otherwise lost in the mists of time. That is what this thread is for. You will notice it is locked - that is so it remains a pure digest.

:xm:
Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. [email protected] is the account.

and note my comments in the third post of this thread. Especially the 'any suggestions?' query.

One way or another, the cowboys at CrapperQuotes have to be controlled. It seems to me the best way to achieve this is through putting pressure on the brokers. Let's mobilise.

Weekly round-up:
Absolute must-reads remain:
http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =38&t=1481 Read Bob's post 1 thoroughly so you know where to start. His latest offering is even more breathtaking than usual.

http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =59&t=1572 Read the first 100 pages or so, then cut to the last 20. Pay particularly close attention to CJ's charts.

Idempotent suggested I keep a permanent record of the rounds-up/heads-up information that is otherwise lost in the mists of time. I have started a thread in the lounge - http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 221#p63221 and will add to it each week.

I received this pm from Jonathan on Thursday:
Jonathan2FI wrote:Steve,
with the birth of 10.4 multi EA final and its plethora of options I took it on (with Mr Long's OK) to structure the testing fwd and discussion of best strategies -new post.
Focussing on H4 and biased toward those who can and do put the time in on the evenings and some on the weekend but cannot trade during the day without receiving p45 which can cause very large DDs'.
We will look at:
Trade Selection - select the pairs to trade that are trending the most - manual
Trade entry - CSS RSI and Pivots combinations and settings - automated
Trade Management - basket TP, Trailing , individual trailing, BE, SLs, keep-ya-shirt etc. automated
It is all in the EA thanks to Mr Long and co developers just requires a bit of focus, structure, collaboration and time to find a consistently performing methodology - hopefully not the infinite monkey theorem and typewriters coming up with Shakespeare - I expect we can do better than that especially since we will be carefully paying attention to NB's approach throughout! Mr Long himself finds the OOTB settings (no manual pair selection to heavy on DD) so the challenge is there.
http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 198#p63198
Thanks Jonathan
ps safe trading as always underlined
Andy (Mr Long) is a seriously talented coder. Anything he spends time working on is going to be good, and his development thread already weighs in at 146 pages. Go to http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =37&t=1619 to download everything you need – I see there is a manual for those of us who have not been a part of the development process.

Broker shenanigans: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 161#p63161 Worth bearing in mind if you already have, or are considering opening an account with these cowboys.

Unless you are totally new to this forum or have steadfastly refused to read enything I have told you to read, you will be aware that Bob's 10.5 is utterly fantastic.

All new members for about the last 6 months have received my Welcome message in which I praise Jem as the master 10.x trader. Jem has excelled himself yet again. Bob produces his systems, but I seriously believe Jem knows how the rest of us can trade them profitably even more than does Bob. Visit http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =38&t=2505 for Jem's latest thread.

Trust me guys, Jem is a seriously talented 10.x trader. You will understand better why I am such a supporter of Global Prime, once you get to know him.

Have fun. The rest of us are.

Here we go again – the start of another trading week. Good luck gals and nongals; make a killing this week. Have a load of fun as well – I suppose that making pips and having fun do kind of go together.

http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =38&t=1481 Read Bob's post 1 thoroughly so you know where to start. His latest offering is even more breathtaking than usual. Once you have your head around 10.5, go to Jem's thread at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 137#p66137 to see how he uses this in a really simple trading system on the H1 chart. You do have to understand the basics though, so don't try to circumvent the basic reading – unless you are an idiot, in which case prepare to lose all your money.

dakiwi sent me this earlier in the week:
dakiwi wrote:Not only is Jem an expert on Bob 10.x, his venture into Global Prime is worth following. All forum/blog members should open a real account with Jem's Global Prime. . Service is OUTSTANDING. Fast honest right to the point response to emails. In about a month Global Prime will have a wider range of deposit options- should suit everybody.

best regards

dakiwi
Then, following on my request to dakiwi that I be allowed to quote his post (which he allowed), he followed up with:
dakiwi wrote:Hi Steve
Yes, certainly. I think all forum members should support Global Prime. But a small word of caution. If one is making a deposit via internet banking -or perhaps any international transaction - be aware of hidden costs. I made my initial US$ deposit to GP's wetpac trust account as per instructions via my online banking. A local international fee was charged - fair enough. But because the transaction was processed by a third party bank, my deposit ended up in GP's trust account 5% LESS than I expected. The intermediary bank, which owns my "local" bank, took an undisclosed 5% as their fee for doing nothing. While the banks claim to have the fee shown in the terms of agreement for their dealings, it is well hidden in the fine print. A fee like that should be shown up front in clear readable print, not hidden within terms of agreement. So having been caught, please be sure you read the terms of agreement carefully BEFORE you commit to an international transaction.
This was the first time I have made a deposit online. For my other accounts I used a bank draft which has only the "local" fee.
Best regards

dakiwi
Not entirely sure I would be pleased to see this sort of charge were I transferring $100,000into my new trading account, so bear this in mind, guys.

We have a not-for-profit broker in our midsts. Here is a pm I received from ericva this week:
erickva wrote:Hi Steve,

How have you been?
Remember some time ago I told you about Forex Nation, the first not for profit forex broker? You were a bit skeptical (FOR SURE!!!), but I told you who was working on the project and it was legit.

I could not tell much at that time, but now after 6 months of hard work it went live today. Danielle Lehrer and I are the co-founders of the broker and charity. That is how I guarantee it will do good and money will be destined to do a lot of good in the world. There is enough for everybody, as soon people and companies realise that, our planet will be a lot better off.

I know you support Global Prime, Dan and I had the pleasure to go to their offices few time and talk to the guys. I met Jeremy and the boys in person. We tried to do this together, but for few reasons it was not possible at this time. But they are still interested in us and we will do business together as soon as we can. They are amazing and share a lot of our views. In our home page we have a ticker where we say thank you for a lot of people that helped and supported us and Global Prime and RAPA Capital are there.

Our website is: http://forexnation.org

This is the About Us page: http://forexnation.org/about/

And this is the Executive Team: http://forexnation.org/executive_team/

We will be sending an email to people who signed up for updates soon.

Could you send a email to our members here, letting them know we are in business? Let's get some of money out of this, sometimes obscure industry, and put it to good work. It would be amazing if we have your support too.

Regards,
Erick
I cannot be quite so unequivocal in throwing my support behind this as I am with Global Prime because I have not enjoyed the same contact with Erick and Danielle that I did with Jem before he and is pals took over GP. What I am hoping is that Forex Nation will prove to be as transparent and honest as our 'Official' broker, and so our members will have extra choice when it comes to picking a firm to trade with – let's hope they can accommodate US citizens..

Erick has started a thread in our Commercial section at my suggestion: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 893#p67893 Please go there to ask all the difficult questions so we can find out how honest and open these guys are.

For those of you unfamiliar with the concept of 'not for profit', this is not the same as 'unprofitable'. For example, charitable organisations are 'not for profit' but still have to be profitable in order to pay their costs. Once costs are met, remaining profits are distributed towards whatever cause the charity is dedicated, rather than to owners/shareholders as in the standard business model. The more profitable the charity, the more money it has to distribute. These profits may be generated from donations, or from fulfilling government contracts – there are as many profit sources as there are not-for-profit organisations.

Weekly round-up:

Erwin amd Mop between them have completed the migration of our forum to DreamHost. Mop has been heroic since Wednesday, battering away at DH's technical help to resolve the problems that have arisen. One of the toughest nuts to crack is that DH only allow 100 emails an hour, and pm's here are regarded at emails. This means my usual Sunday night/Monday morning good-luck and round-up messages would take nearly 90 to reach the last members in the queue. We shall be migrating again if this proves insoluble, but we shall see.
