I am not talking a normal crawl either. I am talking click on something or type in something, then come back in 30 minutes to see if anything had happened. Not always.
I had solved this problem before courtesy of Google but G wasn't helping this time.
Then I remembered it was something to do with about:config and a setting that had to be changed.
A few minutes ago, I typed "Firefox running slowly about:config" into Edge and this led me to the solution I found before in a support forum. I reproduce it here for the benefit of anyone else who ever has the same problem:
url: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1185780
Worked perfectly.thank you - for the record, the paste was https://pastebin.mozilla.org/9072981
can you please test if the following steps can fix the performance issue you're seeing & let us know how this goes?: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named accessibility.force_disabled. double-click it, change its value to 1 and restart firefox once.
thanks
Only took me just over a day to find it again.
This thread is now a 'sticky' so it doesn't get lost. Especially when I need to find it again.
