The Awesome Basket Forward Test

Post by TraderJoeForex »

I am copying our PM here so everyone else can follow what we are doing....

Ianp, Luke, Eaymon, Ferox and 1Direction are now the Awesome5
10 set files are allocated as below so everyone has two each:

1Direction:
M5 swap true T5, M5 swap false T5

Eaymon:
M15 swap true T5, M15 swap false T5

IanP
M1 swap true T5, M1 swap false T5

Feroz:
M1 swap true T3, M1 swap false T3

Luke:
M1 swap true T1, M1 swap false T1

Essentially Luke, Feroz and IanP have the control sets using M1 which will give some insight into which basket profit is better: 1, 3 or 5. In theory the principle of these results will also apply to any timeframe so I don't think it is necessary to test 3 basket profits for each timeframe, just the control. I trust this makes sense.

Then Eaymon and 1Direction will provide the contrast with M5 and M15 with basket profit 5.

I suggest each of you sets up two fresh 10k demos with Global Prime for consistency and adds Rene's Trade Chart and Trade Report indicators for the results analysis.

I am going to continue with the original M1basket set I have running because I want to see how long it takes to recover from the current drawdown. I am also going to add a new set adding H4 to M1 as I mentioned in the Awesome thread. I will set this up on a 10k demo so it matches your testing.

If we can run this test for at least the rest of August and post results after market close each week then we should have some excellent data to help us refine further.

EDIT 29/9:

After some positive results from the initial test above in August our testing gathered steam with Barry and Spyderman adding their resources for September and Little Caro getting involved in the thread with some testing of her own.. so thanks all of you because together we have got to a stage now where I can post the top 3 from our tests as measured by profit vs drawdown.

Barry, IanP and 1Direction are now hosting these top 3 and are happy to keep them running for a while so that everyone will benefit from seeing how these play out over a longer period of time. Thanks guys

I invite everyone to have a go at developing these further and if anyone runs a test for a month showing better results, measured as profit/max drawdown, than any of our top 3 with a myfxbook link I will be happy to add to this post too
:cheer:

EDIT 1/10:

Ferox has provided a set that is doing just as well as our top three and over a longer period of time so added below:

EDIT 22/10:
Dclay has provided a slightly updated set file which he has been running on V1m for the past 5 weeks. His results are better (lower drawdown) than our reference account for the same set file running an older version of Awesome so I also attach v1m here as the best bet right now to replicate these results.

EDIT 24/10
Marx64 has provided an adaption of my 150 Weekly basket set using an interim global basket TP of 50. This has been run on V1f: https://www.myfxbook.com/members/marx64 ... tp/2282103

Here are the additional set files I am testing.

H4 as a second timeframe and turned off recovery so the only way any trades can close is as a whole basket £5.
M5 M15 H1 as 3 extra timeframes, no recovery as above
M1 no recovery as control set for above.

The idea is that deeper pullbacks like we had end of last week on GBPJPY and EURNZD will trigger MTF trades while pushing back up in the original direction. The extra trades will average out these bigger losers and bring the next whole basket close sooner. Let's see
