There was a lot of coding done before us fledgling coders discovered the ENUM_??? thingy. For example, my early TradingTimeFrame inputs had to be entered as minutes, so the H4 had to be entered as 240.

These days we have ENUM_TIMEFRAMES which presents the user with a list of acceptable timeframes. We have ENUM_???? for most thingies. We can invent an ENUM_ for anything not included with Empty4.

In future and when dealing with stuff coded back in the Dark Ages, assume that an input of 0 represents the first possible setting, 1 represents the next and so on.

So, using the moving average indi as an example: an input into a crap custom abortion or EA pre the discovery of ENUM_: 0 would represent an SMA; 1 exponential, 2 smoothed etc.

I'll post the set file tomorrow, maybe that would make things easier.

The buffer reads the default version of the base indicator (Which you set yourself).
Open your indi navigator which is above your charts.
Open the indicator folder, right click the slow MA and left click modify which will bring up the MetaEditor. Make your changes here, click compile and job done.

Hope this helps. :)
Made a set file with the EA settings in the update of my post above. You can double check with his template file. I DID remove the pair prefixes/suffixes from his settings and changed the reserved pair to GBPPLN because I don't have gold as an instrument (USA here).

Many thanks for your efforts both r1ch4rd and Sojourner.
Here's hoping for a green week ahead

EDIT: on first loading, the same errors occurred. Then I realised that the 'suffix' field was not blank (it had an input '#m' - this also applies for the desky setfile) - so I cleared that field - and changed the name of the reserved pair from 'GOLDm#' to XAUUSD, now it's working

Post subject:  Hopelessly confused by TDesk or Desky? Ask here.

hey

I'm running r1ch4rd's latest settings from the tdesk exchange setups thread. All charts are open with the correct default template applied to them

Problem is, on the main tdesk screen, I can't see the columns for all the indicators that are used in this setup. I was expecting it to look similar to r1ch4rd's other hgi tdesk setup:
tdesk indi columns.jpg

But it looks like this instead:
tdesk no indi columns.jpg
r1ch4rd TDesk 4SS 2HGI 6MAcross.set

I've also attached the tdesk setfile if that's any use. Any advice would be appreciated in case I'm missing something obvious

thanks, trader

I had the same problem - you need to edit out the "m#" prefix/suffix etc in both templates, tdesk and desky, and add you exclude symbol. Use notepad to search through the templates for m#. Thanks to everyone for working this out.

thanks jptwardy, I've now edited the templates to get rid of occurrences of 'm#' that were not accessible via the settings files. It's seemed to have done the trick, and all columns are now visible on the tdesk dashboard. Fingers crossed there is nothing else we're missing trying to convert the micro settings to regular, because have no visible side-effects, and that this setup will now trade. I've been running them for about 3 hours now with no trades, let's see what happens

Great! - Mine has 10 trades this morning before hitting the 1500% margin stop. I'm using the incremental lot setting because of us rules. I am also running his original demo setting 34ma,one with incremental and one with fifo turned on. Anyone have insight as to which would be better? I'm guessing incremental since it allows more flexibility for closing trades - but it increases the lot sizes, possibly to the detriment of taking other pair trades.

hey jptwardy

Mine has opened one trade, and some pendings, on usdcad - so that's good news. However, the place where the pips / profit are supposed to display is not showing any of that information:
tdesk no profit display.jpg
It remains to be seen whether this will affect trade closures, or if it's just cosmetic. Is your display similar?

trader

EDIT:The display is working fine now, must have been some temporary lag, so as far as I can tell the setup is fully functional at this point

Yes - mine took a while to "update" with data.

Richard - I question for you - does the micro setup include any stop loss setting like the previous versions? - I didn't see one and was wondering of it is missing/missed or deleted? - thanks

it makes total sense considering the different ranges these pairs move each day, I look forward to seeing your results.

This is a Real Micro account with XM (1:500) that I opened with a smallish deposit and have run since the beginning of Feb.
It banked 1470 pips this week. :yahoo:

These templates and set files are posted with Micro accounts in mind and specifically XM (I have no affiliation). The intention was to provide a quick setup for very small accounts and are a variation of the templates posted earlier in this thread. You will have to make changes to inputs if you wish to trade on none Micro accounts (or just use my previous templates).

This uses 1SMA crossing the 6SMA (Which needs modifying if you are using the 34LWMA I uploaded earlier)

I have had my arse kicked good and proper over the years with real accounts. This is literally starting over very cautiously and when I have the adequate funds I will move over to GP. :good:
