I am probably not alone is being confused. I might even be barking at the wrong moon. It has been known to happen.

What would be really helpful to a lot of the rest of us would be if you posted a step by step account of setting up an indi. Take Stochastic as an example:
  • How do I set it up using the indi default settings via UBD?
  • How do I set it up using TDesk UBD Custom Parameters so I can use different settings for k% etc?
Set files do not do the job here. We need to understand the thought processes. At least, I do. I shall be writing the comprehensive user guide to all this eventually; this will be hard to do whilst I have no idea how to set stuff up in the first place. A step by step description of how to set thingies up will be the basic requirement for others to follow what is going on here.

Take your time. The rest of us will hammer away at this stuff in the meantime.

It is really hard to explain stuff that is crystal clear in your head yet opaque to the rest of us. Trust me, I know how you feel.

This is why some step by step examples will make such a difference to the rest of us.

No rush mind. I will continue to try to make sense of it.

Hi Thomas

Success here too! (I think) First indy working.............Here is an example of the situation you described in your how to post above as:

"* You want to send a directional signal if the commodity close price goes above/below an indicator line in the main chart. This time your first operand would be the desired price series, your operator would again be "Greater"/"Less" and your second operand would be the value of the indicator buffer."

This is the TMA+CG mladen indicator, and I am asking it to send a short signal when price (closed candle) is Greater than the top TMA line value (buffer 1). And a long signal when price (closed candle) is Less than the lower TMA band value (buffer 2). So this is a counter trade breach of the outer TMA bands.

My checks of the TDesk resulting signal are correct. AUDNZD is showing a TMA breach signal trade on both H4 and W1 TMA bands. All other pairs are flat. Please point out any flaws in my learning here. And a big thanks for putting this in our hands.

Little note, the TMA+CG mladen indy I am using (and posted below) has half life parameter set to 20 instead of the default 56. The 56 half-life setting isn't quite signaling with candle close on the wk1 AUDNZD, so don't want to cause any confusion on this.

Hi @all.

Version 1.3 of UBD as well as some changes to the input descriptions are in post 2. Please read the update notes.

The example UBD set files in post 6 got changed accordingly.

Those of you that have already created own UBD settings, please save your settings before loading the new UBD version. Apply them after upgrading and then check your settings again. Affected might be the smoothing and price series settings. Or load UBD defaults and enter your desired settings again. Practice is gained by repeating.

Step-by-step lessons will amend the usage guide soon.

Cheers
Thomas
