Bob, stare at those charts as much as you want. When it comes to actually trading them it will not make a jot of difference.

Renko candles form when x pips have marched off in one direction. Eventually. 'Eventually' can cover hours/days/weeks/months of pain whilst the markets moved in the opposite direction before finally making up their mind and forming a renko candle. They look great in hindsight; they are rubbish whilst forming.

Whilst adding up loads of swap costs.

Guys, I have been coding this stuff for 8 years now. I have coded a fair few renko ea's. They were all failures. renko ea's in the future will continue to fail for the reasons I outline above.

Renko charts look great. Trading them does not work. If it did work, then we would all be rich beyond our wildest dreams. It doesn't so we aren't.

I remind members that this is an English speaking forum. Should you wish to participate in a non-English speaking forum then I am sure there are a lot of them available to you; this is not one of them.

I have been told this all my life, but somehow I manage to find some diamonds now and then. I am finding out on this particular Renko set up the indis dont work properly in live time even though on visual backtest they look great. Probably need to look at a NinjaTrader which can handle Renko but Empty4 cannot. In other words guys indis dont work on offline charts. Unless someone has a work around on that one.

I mean the line is simple, it is just a MA line on a Renko chart. The Rendo smooths it to perfection but its an offline chart and Empty4 is designed not to work with Renko. So for this idea to work you need a platform that allows live Renko charts not offline ones. That is my conclusion for now. Empty4 probably could never work with Renko.

If you want to play with it find a way that an indi will read the Renko chart only not the live charts and use a simple MA using 3MA shift 1 or 2 with the Median LWMA. You will get what I showed on the screen. Then find an indi that will warn you of the cross on the Renko chart and not allow the live charts to influence it and you may have something. I dont know how to do that.

Hi.

I'm not sure if I'm doing things the same way you do but I'm not getting the same charts that you do. My renko charts look like the image attached.

I put indicators directly in the offline chart. Please let me know if I'm missing something here because indicators seem to work in a more realistic way and charts are also more "choppy" than yours.

Thank you!

Bob,

I think you didn't see this post....It shows proprietary Empty4 indicators replicating Renko boxes....but of course source is not available...currently they are free, so maybe you should have a look...

Happy trading

The issue is not replicating Renko bars, or showing diagrams on a screen. The issue is running an EA or a signal system from an off line chart. They still run on the live feed which is time based. So it doesnt represent the Renko chart. What I would like to see is an indicator or EA that can run from the Renko chart. I can see what is happening on the offline Renko chart as it goes through time or what is happening live. The indicator is posting arrows based on the live chart not the Renko chart. It shows the trades in the past where they should be but those are based on past history. But when done on a live chart or better yet the off line Renko chart it is still posting arrows based on the normal Empty4 chart. My best understanding is Empty4 will not handle Renko charts that is why a separate program redoes the chart to replicate Renko.
