miruvacapital EA

SERIOUS WARNING
  • Most Forex traders lose all their money.
    Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
    Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
    Trading this robot without understanding its underlying trading strategies guarantees traders will lose their money.
    This is not a set-and-forget ea. There is no such thing and anyone who tells you there is, is either a liar or an idiot. This EA will need manual intervention when NoOfTrades buys and sells are open, and the only recourse from there is to manage the basket manually.
    At best, a trading robot is only 90% as good as the manual strategy it trades. At best. At worst, it can be much less effective. If the strategy is rubbish, so is the robot.
    To trade this robot, you have to understand:
    • - How to use EA's.
      - Cci indicator.
      - Moving Averages
DO NOT TRADE THIS EA ON A LIVE ACCOUNT. IT IS EXPERIMENTAL.

Ehup all

Introduction
miruvacapital contacted me last week with details of a strategy he has been successfully trading live on EU. It involves trading with the trend, counter-trend and range trading. He has been scalping for 10 pips profit.

miruvacapital uses Cci that you will find in your indicator's folder:
  • - go short if Cci(14) at the close of the previous candle was > 250 and falls back under this level.
    - go long if Cci(14) was below -250 at the close of the previous candle, then rises back above
Lot sizes, take profit and stop loss depend on whether:
  • 1) the trade is in the direction of the overall trend.
    2) counter-trend trading expecting a retrace from the extreme, or the market is ranging.
To determine the trend direction, miru uses three Simple Moving Averages, 30, 60, 90.
  • 30 > 60 > 90 trend is up
    30 < 60 < 90 trend is down
    mixed, the market is ranging
When the trade is in the direction of a prevailing trend (i.e. following a retrace) lot size and tp are twice the size of ctr (ciybter-trend/range) trades. SL appears to remain the same in both cases.

The inputs are:

Code: Select all

extern string  ls="----Lots and stops----";
extern string  tre="Trend";
extern double  TrendLots=0.1;
extern int     TrendTakeProfit=80;
extern int     TrendStopLoss=100;
extern string  ctr="Counter-Trend/Range";
extern double  CtrLots=0.05;
extern int     CtrTakeProfit=40;
extern int     CtrStopLoss=100;
Further down are the Cci inputs - I leave you to divine the meaning of CCI_DownTrendExhausted etc.

Recovery
miru is finding Recovery invaluable in dealing with DD. For anyone unfamiliar with this, find a copy of my shell user guide and read about it.

Other stuff
All the usual stuff is available - Hanover, CBI etc; they form no part of this strategy for now, but who knows what you guys might discover?

Charts and time frames
miru has traded this as a scalper. I will spare his blushes by not describing the R:R ration he was using. Since sending him his copy of the bot, miru has been playing out on Strategy Tester and now recommends most of the the defaults on EU, GU, H4 charts. Given that he has come to this by backtesting, make what you can of it.

In conclusion
I have no idea if this puppy has a tail to wag. Offer it a choc and see.

:D

Shame on you Steve - don't you know that chocolate is really bad for dogs? My 10-year-old would be outraged if she read this. Fortunately for you she's not trading forex yet, so you might get away with it! :lol:

Hi Steve, Miruvacapital,
i will be checking this out in the course of the week. i like the simplicity of this and it answers the basics of trading, without completely over-ananlyzing, dissecting and computing a billion thingies, before a position is taken. CCI is also a favorite of mine, and will mess around with various settings. i'll throw lots of chocolates at the doggie, and if need, i'll set up one of the demos to run on myspace account for results to be tracked by all. i think this can have legs too.
regards and thanks for the new toy guys, :)

Hi all, i currently use this indicator together with 3 EMAs and Bands to time trades manually - and have been profitable for over a year with this system - across H1 for AUDUSD EURUSD

Just today i picked out a bottom in AUD/USD at 1.0315 and now closed for 25 pips

I am sure that a system like this can be used mechanically with some tweaking and recovery - because no oscillator is 100% correct during heavy trends - but the 3 EMAs and hard SL is there to limit losses in such an event.

-

I am currently placing this on Live with 0.01 lots on GBPUSD H4

It seems to work best with that using these settings and recovery - backtest seemed OK

-

Steve, not sure if recovery works with ECN but i seem to be getting a lot of orders opened around the same price in backtest - rather than 20-30 pips apart. Is that an error or am i just an idiot? lol

Attached set file I am testing ...

Just to let you know that I have found a few faults and am fixing them; replacing Recovery is never as easy as leaving it in from the start.

Here is an image of my manual trading using my indicator this couple of days - the BUY signal you see there i have already made 15 pips , in at 1.3025

* Made on the recent sell scalp printed there too :)

If the EA can be refined to have an option to open based on CCI MA Crossovers would give it a bit more timing edge i feel - but normal is just fine too if we have recovery to aid

Hi Miruvacapital,

Thank you very much for sharing your interesting trading strategy, and many thanks to Steve for coding the ea.

BTW, which MA are you using for the CCI/MA crossover ?

Cheers.
