Indeed it is. How about infinitesimally insignificant? Uniformly unimportant? Utterly unrelevant?

Yes, I know that, "unrelevant" is not a word. I was going for alliteration, OK?

I will sort this out one day. Possibly. Right now, in case you had not noticed, I have a few more important thingies to turn my attention to.

Best to stop sending ludicrous PM's and posting irrelevant posts folks. You know there will only be one outcome for the one who finally irritates me beyond the limit of my patience.

Thanks for the moving day ea
i am testing and its promising
one thing i noted cross of moving average always whipsawing before trending
so i thought instead of market order, i started putting pending order grid size 1
Early days I know, but this idea kept MD out of a number of trades that would have been losers because of whipsaw.

It looks as though you came up with a great idea.

hey

Sorry for this potentially noob question, I am attempting having this send pending orders instead of market orders. I can't see anything explicitly labelled as 'send pending order' or similar. Am I right in thinking that under 'Grid Inputs' in the settings, if 'send immediate market trade' is set to false, this changes it to pending orders?

thanks, trader

Yes. I referred to this in an earlier post. This needs recoding and I will sort it out in time for Monday.

hi,

nice work on this thingy steve

i've been trying to make a indicator that shows arrows on crosses of bars on the MA but sofar i failed.
i wonder if anyone already has (made) an indicator that also works with UBD, so we can recreate the same strategy in TDesk

Just so you folks know what is happening, I have locked this thread.

Attached is a version with single trading and grid trading separated. I have implemented guptabhk's pending trade idea in the single trade section - that idea is one of those moments of genius.          There are inputs you use to chose the style - they are where the old grid inputs used to be. Work out their meaning for yourselves for now.

MD has a lot of hidden and redundant SPB code that I left in place because I wanted to create the EA quickly - I did not really believe trading could be so simple. I am removing this code and it non-coders would be surprised how long this takes.

Next up will be to write a user guide. Then I shall open a fresh thread and we can all start again. This will all take time but I hope to get it all up and running in time for the markets opening over the weekend.

Progress update folks.

I have the version I posted earlier running on my demo. It appears to be trading as intended - I ironed out a few bugs including one that was causing trades to close at the open of a new candle regardless of the market relationship to the moving average. The bug was a single line of code being in slightly the wrong place.

The only difference between the version I posted earlier and the one I shall post in the new thread is that there are checks that users have not enabled both single trading and grid trading, or forgotten to enable either. Apart from that, there will be no need to download the version I shall post in the new thread.

Early days, I know, but guptabhk's stop order idea appears to have made a massive difference in reducing losses from whipsaw. I just closed the only trade still open manually; the market had recrossed in the opposite direction with only a few minutes to go before the open of a new candle.

This meant a profit of just over $1,200 today. The balance stands at $29,105 and the demo is flat for the weekend.

Looking good.

The new thread is up and running at viewtopic.php?p=169624#p169624. There is an associated thread for the hopelessly confused.
