Yes it "kinda" works but you would have to modify and use the new compiler. I have tested this and it seems to compile but I have not tried the compiled code on Empty4 as of yet.

I will do that shortly and post a howto showing you how to modify your own since this is neither my work nor am I the OP. (Once I work out a couple bugs)

UPDATE:

I PMed w633 earlier asking the status on this project. I've not heard back from him as of yet.

I went ahead and updated SciTE-MQL to v3.5.5 and put it on Github. If you want to mess with the latest version it's here.

EDIT: 23/4/15 Use w633 git repo for latest builds.

Test it out and let me know if you have any problems with it etc and I will see what I can do to fix it up.

Don't forget to setup your directory junction (symlink) Read the readme file.

c:\whereveryouextractedit\other\MQL4\README.TXT

UPDATE: Instead of creating multiple posts on this I will just maintain the change log on the Github. If you want to see what is done then you can view it there.

w633 still visits here. Perhaps he is just too busy to continue the project - or too fed up with trying to keep up with the Cretins at Crapperquotes efforts to derail anything useful that any half-way decent coder produces to try to combat their moronic imbecility.

since metaquotes upgraded their IDE i thought people would not use this IDE anymore, plus i have so many little kids running around my house i don't really have much time to maintain it.

thanks everyone who is supporting this project and especially thanks DigitalCrypto putting time to improve it. this IDE has been updated to support 600 builds since last October and i just upgraded its editor to version 3.5.5.

the project has moved though due to google shutting down google code, the new location is at

i'll also get in touch with DigitalCrypto so we can collaborate and integrate our work.

Yes, the Cretins at Crapperquotes code editor is better than it was and does some of the most basic thingies that even the more retarded text editors does with ease. It is at least usable.

It still lacks some basic facilities - function folding for example, to make copy/pasting easier. Frankly, it is gone 23.00 here in the UK and I have imbibed, so I lack the coherent thought to express myself clearly.

Fact is, most of us coders want and miss scite - we just cannot make it work for us.

Just expressing a wish here. Don't expect any actual coding. Little kiddies and coding probably don't mix when the coding is being done for free. Mind, I understand the emotional satisfaction of coding for an entire community......................

Sorry. Can't blame a guy for trying can you? scite was sooooooooo good.

w633 and I spoke a couple times. I believe he is going to maintain the repo on github.

In the mean time I have been working on converting some themes over to Scite from the AutoIt group.

While it is still a work in progress, here's a preview of Solarized Light/Dark.

I took the liberty of uploading the themes to my git repo. You can download the archive and take what you need from the themes directory.

To use a theme simply edit the SciteGlobal.properties file. At the bottom find:

# Change to the name of the theme you would like to use
import themes\Default

You can change it to something like

import themes\dark\SolarizedDark

Restart SciTE and enjoy.

Please keep in mind that these themes were borrowed from the AutoIt group and probably aren't perfect for your needs. I am not a theme guy. If you want to modify or create your own theme please feel free to download Scite Customization GUI tool in the themes/SCG folder.

Steps for doing this:

1) Open SciTE

2) Open SCG

3) Choose a theme from the defaults to modify.

4) Save it as Mycoolthemename.properties in the correct folder of your SciTE themes.

5) Open the new theme and change all occurrences of au3 to "*" so that style.au3.1 is style.*.1 then save it.
(Sometimes there is a bug on dark themes where the sidebar text is black) You can copy style.*.0 to style.cpp.10 and it will usually fix this problem)

Reload SciTE and test it out.

It's pretty early in the morning and I am sure I forgot something. Please let me know if there are questions and I will try to answer them as best as humanly possible.

Also if you are a theme guy/gal and you have a nice theme you would like to share with the group, please pastebin it and I will include it in the archive.

i just updated scite-mql to be 2.0.0, it has a big version jump because the fundamental software was being upgraded to a different one.

there is another major feature added in this version, which is the automatic parameter hint (calltip) thanks to the inspiration of George (gaheitman), now we are catching up with meta-editor, feature-wise.

themes created by DigitalCrypto is also added, he added quite a few themes I am sure there will be more than one you like.

next i'll try to see if we can highlight the parameter variables like they did in meta-editor.

without further ado, get this version while it's hot here!

It's kinda late tonight but I will definitely git a copy tomorrow for testing and updating.

I also want to clean up some of those themes a bit more. I will work on them from time to time but trading is my main focus of course.
