Ditto - Empty4 to Oanda Trade Copier - As Low as 0.00001

This IS excellent news! Empty4 and MT5 won't download to any of my computers, regardless of OS or Anti-virus software, and with Ditto not working, I had given up on my VPN (where they do work), but I will resurrect the VPN now. Thank you!!!!

I have no idea if what I have to write has anything relevant here at all. Here goes.

My browser is Google Chrome. Users of Chrome know how useful this browser is and how reluctant we are to give it up.

I had ZonoAlarm pro installed as my internet protector.

Some sites were near impossible to access except occasionally. Like my banking site. Imagine that.

I came across a site that said that ZomeAlarm made internet impossible access to many sites. I removed ZA. Suddenly, all those previously inaccessible sites were open again.

Like my banking site.

Any clues what we can do about this? All ideas welcome folks.

Thanks for the info! I figure it has to be something like that, but for the life of me I've no luck. Some of my stations have Windows 10, some Windows 11, some have one anti-virus, some have another. I tried uninstalling all anti-virus software and disabling the built in Windows Defender stuff - still no luck.

I did manage to get a new Empty4 installed on my computer after installing a VPN, so... I keep wondering if it is something about my IP address.

No idea, but having gotten this far, I'll see if I can reinstall all my indicators and Ditto tomorrow and get back up and running.

I give an answer from the PC doctor's view:

Having repaired hundreds of computers with partially or completely defunct Windows, my first suspect always is any third party "anti virus". These programs grind themselves deep into the system in order to detect and inhibit what they might consider harmful. More often than not they use undocumented or in itself dangerous ways to get access to the system core. Now let MS change something by an update, and bang... In my eyes all those AV solutions do more harm than good. They are slow, unreliable and often create new vulnerabilities.

My advice to all my customers is to stay away from third party AV solutions and solely rely on the built-in MS defender. MS engineers have access to all the undocumented things and know best how to protect their own operating system - at least they should. And most important, dear computer user, use your brain. If you open attachments in mails from unknown senders and ignore all warnings, you deserve the consequences. Sorry for being harsh.

PS. From time to time you can do a complete scan with the free version of Malwarebytes. It will find a few minor adware thingies, but nothing dangerous if MS defender has done its job. This will just make you sleep better.
