Ditto - Empty4 to Oanda Trade Copier - As Low as 0.00001

Overall, things have been going well. No duplication of lot size within a pair since the latest update.

One problem I have had ongoing even before the latest update is that the Ditto EA appears to lock up from time to time. Sometimes the green bar at the top still says monitoring trades, but even if I close Dittolink it still says that. Other times there is no green bar saying trades are monitored, but DittoLink seems to be running fine, and the EA seems to be working to some extent, because it shows the trade number and lot sizes are mismatched between the Empty4 platform. However, it doesn't do anything to correct the imbalance.

I tried cutting down the number of ditto sessions I was running on that workstation from five to two, but I am still having this issue. If no one else is experiencing it, I'll try moving one of the ditto setups to another workstation and see if it pops up again.

One suggestion for a future update that Steve has in his EA's: If you have a current time displayed with seconds somewhere on the screen, a quick look will tell you within a few seconds whether the EA is really locked up or just stuck in some other way.

I will back this up. It is the reason my EA's have a time display.

I should have mentioned earlier that once Ditto is 'locked up', sometimes I get Ditto to correct itself just by clicking on the Expert Advisor properties and then clicking OK. Other times this has no effect and I have to close the Empty4 platform and restart it, sometimes two or three times -- then all of a sudden Ditto kicks in and corrects all of the imbalances, closing and adding trades as necessary. It's actually pretty cool to watch it seamlessly rebalance 8 or 10 trades in a matter of seconds.

I'll plan on starting next week with two Dittos I have live running on different workstations to see if that solves the issue unless I hear otherwise on the issue.

Quick update. I'm not getting any lot size duplication, but definitely having a problem with the overall lot size. I entered a manual trade to Sell AUDUSD at a size of .04. I have ditto set to 12%, so it should have started at 480, but instead created a sell trade with a lot size of 150. I added a new sell trade of .02 just to see what would happen and it created a new sell trade with a lot size of 151.

Having entered these manually when no other trades were going through, I'm at a little bit of a loss to see what caused Ditto to revert back to the .01 size for calculating lots.

Hi Lonnie,

Remember, life comes first! If you don't get a chance to look at this weekend, I'll set up a version of Ditto on a demo again next week and do some more exotic testing to see if I can pin down a pattern at least at to why and when it happens and why it works correct some times and not others.

Checking in here to report on the Ditto EA.

My grid trading is working well with separate buy and sell accounts.

I set up an FX Blue mirror trade receiver. Ditto has been copying those trades and doing well until today. Here is the status:

DittoLink.exe (PYTHON SCRIPT):
- Shut down.
- I ran the DittoLink.exe, and it updated several positions. One showed an AUDCHF position was closed for $9.XX? loss.

OANDA v20 STATUS:
- In my v20 account my orders maxed out at 1,000 pending orders to buy 3,000 units of AUDCHF @ 0.70973.
- From March 4, 2019 at 05:16 (local time), the 3000 unit AUDCHF buystop order started being placed.
- From 20-24 Buy Stop orders were placed at 0.70973 per minute until 05:57 (local time).
- From 05:57 until 06:08 STOP ORDER REJECT messages occurred around the same pace.
- March 4, 2019 at 06:08 there are hundreds of close orders showing in the activity log (23817 to 22820).
- I'm guessing that is what made DittoLink crash.
- There are no AUDCHF open or closed positions in v20.
- When I try to close any of the orders, I get an error message, "Server rejected order cancellation: Invalid order number"
- Fortunately, after trying to place several stop orders on other currency pairs, the jammed log cleared to show my three pending trades. They did not show until I took a market order.

OANDA Empty4 Demo:
- Empty4 currently has one 2001 unit AUDCHF long position open.
- Empty4 history shows a close position of 0.15 AUDCHF long his its stop loss @ 0.70623.
- Ditto is set to 20%, so the 3,000 unit pending order matches the 0.15 (or 15,000 units) AUDCHF long position that was closed.

Here are some thoughts:
- One thing is interesting; Empty4 is showing that two positions were opened at the exact same time: one 0.10 lots and the other 0.15 lots @ 14:08:41 (06:08:41 local time). Either I made an error in converting the time, the day light savings kicked in too early, or a pending order was hit exactly 1 hour after being set.
- I don't know what happened. It may be clearer to someone else, and it is something to consider for a possible future update to the code.
- I'll pull the FX Blue mirror trade from the Ditto Empty4 account to remove that variable.

Thank you for this amazing tool. This may finally allow me to be able to trade small account here stateside!!

I'm experiencing similar behavior as BigRunner.

I set up demo to get the hang of this and was running fine for about 16 hours, but AUDCAD trade triggered this morning and Ditto ended up sending thousands of immediate back to back buy/sell orders - opening and closing positions over and over.

This happened while taking my daughter to school and driving to work, so by the time I opened up my VPS, Ditto Link seemed to have crashed or shut itself down (or Oanda forced it down?). I re-opened Ditto link and it started throwing the same trades again. These trades were not on my Empty4 platform.

Shut down Ditto Link, removed Ditto EA from chart, restarted everything, dragged Ditto EA onto new chart and restarted and AUDCAD orders started pinging Oanda immediately.

Are there log files I can post here to help find out why this is happening?

Pending orders have not been working for me.

If a pending order is placed in Empty4, Ditto continues placing duplicate pending orders about 1 per second until they are maxed out at 1,000.

That said, the rest of my grid trading has been nearly flawless. I've grid traded EUR/JPY and EUR/CHF both buy and sell directions every 20 and 15 pip gaps respectively with no issues. That is impressive.
