Hallo slipshod,

Thanks for your great work that you have shared with us, much appreciated!

I tried to use the fractals function in LibSSSRv3, but without success.

a) When compiling my application, MetaEditor opens up LibSSSRv3.mqh and gives the following single error: SSSR_FindFractal' - no dll defined for the imported function

The offending line:
int SSSR_FindFractal(int direction, int type, int limit=1000, int shift=0, int count=0);

After googling quite a bit, I changed the line by removing the semi-colon ; and putting braces {} thus:

int SSSR_FindFractal(int direction, int type, int limit=1000, int shift=0, int count=0){}

That allowed it to compile. Unfortunately, a return value of 0 (zero) was always being returned.

Then tried to copy the relevant functions into my app (manual hacking), and then all I was getting was -1 ( no fractals found ).

I'm now at my wits end <wry smile>. I'm I missing something? If you can find a spot of time to look into it, it would be much appreciated!

Hi, sorry I haven't responded with this. I've been so busy with programming work that I've had no time at all for trading, let alone libraries & indicators.

Anyway, it turns out that the "fix" is simple - in the header the SSSR_FindFractal needs to come before SSSR_FindZoneV2, probably because the latter function contains code & therefore MQL's primitive compiler isn't expecting forward declarations.

I say "fix" because it just gets past the compile problem. There's also a zero divide in the SSSR_Fractal function, fixed by adding "if (SSSR_TF > 0)" prior to "P = P / SSSR_TF * 2 + MathCeil(P / SSSR_TF / 2);"

That gets it running without crashing, but still not in a working state. Its not finding any fractals. As the code for doing so has pretty much been pulled straight from the indicator I assumed (yes you're welcome to chuckle) that it'd just work - and it doesn't, for reasons I haven't had opportunity yet to track down. I'll do my best to find time for this soon-ish, if someone else doesn't first, but I can't make any promises - food must be placed on tables, roofs placed over heads & unfortunately that means my current plethora of paid work must take priority.

With regards to priority of permanent solution for this: No problemo bro!, feed + clothe + roof your people first!, that's what's important.

In the meantime, I will also try (again) to make the code from the indi work, will let you know how it goes.

Hi Slipshod,
thnx for this indi. When i turn of the weak zones, the text of weak zones is displaying. Is it possible to turn of the text also?
And also is it possible to change the place of text? Because texts are closing the other multi indicator which are at the window corner 1.

Hallo Andrew,

Feature addition request (for the next version of the library/indi): diagonal S/Rs (trendlines based on fractals).

A confluence of horizontal and diagonal S/Rs would be pretty powerful.

Thanks very much for coding this! It's a better looking and cleaner version of what I have been looking for for a long time!

Quick question in terms of doing some manual back testing. If I go back in the charts and move one candle ahead at a time to test some strategies, will this replicate actual usage or will the indicators use future resistance and support to draw the zones? (Repainting i think it's called)

I tried the indi on backtest and it seems to paint just like it would live.

On another note - tonight I re-started Empty4 from GP and this indi doesn't work now.
All of the "." in the variable names need to be changed to "_" because of the new version of Empty4.

The new editor looks a lot like (as in features) the editor found on SHF (scite). It even has a format code option now.

It's late so I'm not going to start that. Eventually the revised version should be posted in the first post.

I can see lots of trades getting a surprise that their EA hasnt traded. My actually crashed a few times before I figured out that I was just rev'd. What a shitty way to upgrade software for the end user. Not even a boz to tell us what is about to heppen. All the files get moved around too - most important part

The initial post has now been updated with a version of the indicator that should work on build 600 of Empty4.
