If this story is true FXCM is in big trouble.

Breaking: FXCM in Fire Sale Talks with Potential Buyers -

See more at:http://forexmagnates.com/breaking-fxcm- ... auNpE.dpuf

Sadden to see this happening. We have a limited amount of Brokers in the US market. I would hope if they do sell that many of the positive changes that have occurred at FXCM will be retained.

FXCM and DailyFx have a large staff of analyst and educational staff. I suspect they are not breathing to easily today. I suspect there will be Major changes afoot for DailyFx.

As of now the update for FXCM's trading station does not seem to be available. I will check their site to see if there are any statements as to when this might happen. If you have an Ipad or Android Tablet or phone the indicators are available on FXCM's mobile trading station platform. This is a very nice platform.

Cheers, :)

This is an article you might want to look at also on Forex Magnates

It list all the major brokers and what effect the SNB created mess had on them. I have to say I find this a little bit suspicious that so many seem not to be impacted by the event. I suspect that is not quite the truth.

"baby Berkshire Hathaway" Leucadia rescues FXCM

Post by slowkey »

I received the following email from FXCM this afternoon which is indeed good news in that FXCM has made so many positive changes over the last year. Going to un-marked up spreads and a commission structured price model has made them very transparent.

If you think about how many regulatory bodies FXCM needs to make Happy it was definitely in need of a lifeline to right their books.

"Dear Client,
FXCM Client Accounts Secure – Raises $300 Million in Capital

FXCM previously announced that due to unprecedented volatility in the EUR/CHF pair after the Swiss National Bank announcement of January 15, 2015, clients experienced significant losses and generated negative equity balances owed to FXCM.
To ensure the full financial stability of ALL client accounts, and FXCM, TODAY we have announced that Leucadia National Corporation will provide $300 Million in financing capital to FXCM Holdings LLC.
Normal trading and operations will continue for all of its customers.
The net proceeds will be used to replace capital in FXCM regulated entities.
FXCM will continue to be one of the largest forex brokers globally.
With the investment of the new capital, the Company has returned the regulatory capital it maintained prior to the losses client suffered as a result of the historic movement of the Swiss Franc early Thursday morning.
The company is in compliance with all the regulatory capital requirements in all of its jurisdictions. "

So FXCM was able to secure themselves with a influx of 300 million. This took 36 hours and was reported on CNBC last evening.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/102343957#.

CNBC stated in their article that ...
"As recently as last January, the European Central Bank ranked FXCM as the world's third-largest retail foreign exchange broker."

Leucadia is sometimes referred to as a "baby Berkshire Hathaway" because of the diversity of its holdings. This is a solid investment by a prestigious Holding Company. The sweetener in the deal for Leucadia is if FXCM would sell the company Leucadia would receive 75 percent of all the profits.

For those who use FXCM trading station here is a link to where you can find the New Volume indicators. They are free.

http://www.fxcmapps.com/trading-station ... sortby=new

So that is about as far as I am going in any further discussion in this thread of FXCM. I have had a separate thread under the General Forex area for some time now discussing FXCM new price structure. Anybody wanting to discuss FXCM is welcome to discuss it there with me.

Cheers, :)

NFA strikes again

Post by slowkey »

So the NFA has in the name of protecting traders increased margin requirements for AUD and JPY. It will now cost 51 US dollars to trade just a 1k position of GBPJPY. That is just one 10 cent lot. USDJPY now becomes 30 dollars per 1k lot. It was 20 dollars.

Their goal must certainly be to destroy retail forex in the US. This will drive even more brokers out of the U.S. market as they price retail traders out of the market.

Oh they say it is temporary but this is what they have wanted all along. They just have an excuse to do it and temporary has a way of becoming permanent in the US market. God save me from the Nanny state. Good bye 50:1 leverage.

Hey Doug,

Wonderful thread you got here. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge, I just finished reading your 30 page user guide!

I don't think my brain (nor my computer) could handle 7 ribbons on one screen. Theoretically, if you were trading the 15 min chart and could only use 2 ribbons which ones would you pick?

Thanks

Thanks zyx,

Yes you could do fine with 2. Just put 3 ribbons on like this 1, 0 , and -1 starting with the level up being 1 and counting down. You can decrease the load on computer by reducing the bar count so ribbons just fill the screen.

That would give you the 5 minute shadow, 15 minute and 30 minute. You could add the the hour by putting a 2 level up for the first ribbon. Ribbons need to be placed on the chart in larger to smaller order so that the faster 5 minute ribbon for instance is not covered up by a larger ribbon. So you start with the larger ribbons first.

Cheers,

Were you able to construct an answer from slowkey's response. I wasn't so maybe we can ask again, that answer was over my head "3 ribbons on like this 1, 0 , and -1 starting with the level up being 1 ".
