MAD-EA

Your strategy is fine as well but IMO you don't need the MAD-EA for that, just work with Multi Currency MTF MA Dashboard and you get the alert for what you want. :good:

Regards,

Hai
Thanks for your suggestion, I'll check out the Multi Currency MTF MA Dashboard and see if it serves my purpose and if the arrows are the same as MAD EA.
If this continues to be profitable then we need to look at an ea to trade it, until then I'll continue testing.

MAD-EA

Folks, something that I haven't seen anyone talking about. Using pips as measurement weights how the EA works in favor of volatile pairs against more stable ones.

For instance GBPJPY can travel 200 pips in a day, while EURUSD travels maybe 70 pips in that same day. Using a fixed lotsize makes the EA too dependent on what the volatile pairs do.

It could be interesting to have a range of lotsizes, for instance 0.01-0.05 in order to be able to open smaller lot sizes on volatile pairs and bigger lot sizes on more stable pairs. The lotsize would be a function of the ATR: bigger ATR smaller lotsize and viceversa. The pair SL and TP could be also a % of ATR, and the basket goal would be a % of the account size instead of an specific amount of pips.

It is just brainstorming.

I have read the documentation and played with the EA a bit, but not with my own settings. I hope I can start this coming week with my own setfile and let's see what happens.

Just a view thoughts about my experiences.

I´ll compliment, what Wavegarrick,, Obsida and Haggadah did already partly mentioned.
The MAD-indicator will monitor and display with high probability the actual direction of the price movement under consideration of the different timeframes.

I tried a demo using the scalp-settings provided by Wavegarrick (with CSS-filter alternatively on and off).
The EA, when the conditions has been met will open instantly a lot of buy and sell trades of the appropriate symbols. At the beginning most of the trades starts to move immediately into profit.

Btw: I did use the indis “iexposure tickets” or “trade report” to monitor the price- performance.
Please consider in addition that I talk especially about scalping within a small period and range in currently ranging market conditions at high volatility trading hours intraday.

In the swing or longterm Scenario the approach might be more or less different.

After certain minutes I close manually all open orders in profit (by using a script “Close all orders in profit”), but the EA did again immediately open new orders of the same symbols.
I assume it did, as long as the EA-conditions of a pair are still valid using a small duration, but I might be wrong, due to live observation and manual intervention (first without a TM)?

Further on, I agree with “alfonsomg” what he mentioned concerning order management and the use of the ATR, especially by trading a basket.
It is almost impossible to trail all open symbols simultaneously. Especially in high volatility periods (trading hours) it might be happen to manage simultaneously more than 10 up to 20 running trades.

But anyway, I do not have to consider only the different price- resp. trend-direction of the pairs.
That might be arrived a daily (HL over the last 24h) or e.g. an hourly price-performance-level.

It´s because of the lagging resp. the delay and slow reaction of the moving averages (common known).
Supposed the trend is still indicating valid for entries, but the price-action (-movement) has already arrived a value/price-level e.g. at new high or low, where price tends to move into accumulation or in the opposite direction.
For that purpose, I use in addition the ATR-indi to signal and evaluate the actual price-action.
There are further signals, but that is not the issue and I don’t like to mix different approaches and setups. It´s up to you.

FYI: At FF there is a thread called Bagovino-method, which deals with MA-crossover (5/12 at H1), using e.g. Stoch and RSI in addition, to locate overbought or oversell areas.

I tried also the APTM-EA from Milanese, which provides ATR-functionality and Partial Close (PC).
The idea behind this order-management-method is, when we take PC very fast and place the SL by a distance, taken under consideration the amount of already partial profit taken, recalculated in pips for the remaining lotsize. Now the SL will have positioned < open, but will provide more spread to consider the market noise. This method is similar like BE-protection, but without closing the complete position to quick (like BE frequently does), due to market noise or unexpected correction (e.g. in the range of big numbers, market open, etc.).
In the worst case it will be a zero-sum result, if SL (instead of a BE-stop, which have to be always > open) will trigger.
Otherwise we can make profit open end with the remaining lotsize, resp. position if the trade moves further on into profit. Unfortunately, the APTM does not provide an instant pip for pip-trailing-stop, starting from this SL-position < open, under consideration, that the standard-trailing via terminal provides instant trailing only > open (entry).

The a.m. method describes how to work with a single order, but does not exclude to stack further orders or pendings in price direction (in the same manner) to take part, if a homerun will happen.

The key is trailing to avoid big losses.
Keep in mind, we can calculate and prevent losses by stops, but we cannot predict profits in advance.

As already mentioned by the followers, the issue “exits” by order-management are still under construction.
Be carefully and do not leave the EAs work alone, without confidence and experience.

Maybe the approach might be helpful.
Will stay tuned.

Trade well guys …

There are two questions in my mind: 1) how to avoid ranging market 2). how to reduce loss in a ranging market if detecting it wrong.

And I have come with 2 possible solution: 1). the slope of a MA in a medium time frame say 4 hrs ---> flat slope = ranging market. 2). when possible "ranging market has been detected, a smaller lot size can be allocated to the trade to minimize the loss and win big in a trending market.

Does it make sense?
Happy Trading

This settings file blew my account in 24h. It's a modification of Wavegarrick's, just enabling closing trades and an smaller basket size. Just in case anyone is curious.

EDIT: let me add that the EA has been closing all the trades a few pips on the losing side. It doens't seem that any of the trades hit the SL of 20 pips :?

Wait a minute. It has been closing the trades on the very moment they were opened. I've been bleeding the spread all day long.

Your, BasketSL = +100.0 and you have the 'Close Trades' switch to true.

So, what the EA does is this: it works out the total basket profit (or loss), into basketProfit. If this number is less than BasketSL ==> Close all trades. Guess what: As soon as you open one or more trades, the basketProfit is always less than +100.0, isn't it?

The default for BasketSL = -100.0. That number is more likely getting the EA to do what you want.
