Nhat's take on PPoS

Post by SteveHopwood »

SERIOUS WARNING
  • Most Forex traders lose all their money.
  • Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
  • Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
  • Trading this robot without understanding its underlying trading strategies guarantees traders will lose their money.
  • This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention.
  • At best, a trading robot is only 90% as good as the manual strategy it trades. At best. At worst, it can be much less effective. If the strategy is rubbish, so is the robot.
  • To trade this robot, you have to understand:
    • How to use EA's.
    • Pipcruiser's Pipmasher and its stacking variant PPoS.
Nhat asked me to code this variant on Pipcruiser's Pipmasher on Steroids last week. He has generously paid me for the work and asked that it be released here. Thanks Nhat.

This variant is intended for people who already understand how PPoS works. You can read full details at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =91&t=4098; you will need to read the details about trade stacking if you are not already familiar with them. PPoS arose from the original Pipcruiser's Pipmasher, so read about that if you want the full story.

To summarise what PPoS does:
  • ascertain the overall trend:
    • previous MN1 and W1 candle must have move in the same direction - both up or both down. Mixed movement means no trade.
  • in a trending market, wait for the D1 candle to move in the opposite direction - a retrace. When it does:
    • set pending trades above the high of the previous D1 candle for a buy, or below the low for a sell.
    • send stacked pendings as set in the inputs.
There is no alteration to the core functionality on Nhat's PPoS. Nhat wants the trend to be detected by the direction of the previous 20 D1 and 5 D1 candles. They must both have moved in the same direction. In this variety of PPoS, we have 3 time frame inputs: LongerTF (longer time frame), MediumTF (medium time frame) and TradingTF. Each has its associated period. All these inputs default to Nhat's brief.

This gives inveterate tinkerers shed-loads of opportunities to tinker inveterately, so have fun. The bot includes all the usual stuff, so I attach the shell user guide as well

Hi Steve,
Please do not blast me for asking this clarifying question. Each new day would then be a new set of 20 day candle and 5 day candles since they would be rolling values per each new day?

Only if the spelling of the day has a 'y' in it, otherwise not. <Yells, "Oy. Come back." to rapidly fleeing will to live.>

And how did it go?

I thought this method of Price Action entry had some good merit both as trend spotting and break out entries.

Does anyone know if there is an indicator that shows the same as the criteria for this EA?

When yesterdays close is lower than the close of 20 days ago and also lower than the close of 5 days ago?

I'm sure it would be useful, thanks

I really liked this version of the EA but I never managed to get any significant profits. From memory one setting that did show potential was a longer period of 55 days and 21 days with one D1 candle against as the trigger. I did have it on my mind to come back to this when I have a chance. You've delivered a nice reminder so thank you!
