CSS WITH HGI

Congrats on another week of nice pips! It was beyond fun following the system this week, made some good profit myself.

I have a follow-up on the previously posted question about letting the trades run for only a couple of hours. Why not let the trades run until the HGI says it's time to close, especially if you're using the H4 chart for the signals? Have you previously tried that and found that closing out before the session ends seems to capture the majority of the movement?

The second question is about the daily CSS. When do you think it will be usable again? And have you moved on to the D1 charts with the HGI when the D1 CSS is fully functional?

EDIT: One last question. Are the (daily/weekly/monthly) pivot points included in the HGI or could they also be useful determining potential exits?

All the best,
Robert
I'm adjusting my trading style to my lifestyle. In other words when I was a teacher/ administrator in a school, I could check my trades every four hours and check my trade for long term strategy. Now I get just a couple of minutes here and there to trade. If I can trade a session I will and if I can't I miss out. That does not bode well for my usual 4H trading. Also as a USA resident I can't trade long term and also short term at the same time. The rules restrict you to just one style of trading. So I am forced for now to take short term trades.

I also don't get to trade off of charts. I get signals and I decide to trade from the signals. I am using a cell phone with a tiny screen. So it's in and out quickly.

Session trading is getting the move of that session and then be done. Most moves happen in the first 3 hours of that session. Then they retrace until the next session or day. For example the USA/CAD only trades well during the USA session because that's the only time their banks are open. The eur/usd is not going to move much during the AUD and JPY sessions. Their banks aren't open. So for me to hold trades during their quiet times us not viable for me at this time.

Probably another week for the lines to be back toward the center. The gbp will be searching for their new high low levels. So looking for that. The daily CSS reads are critical for long term trading because you can see when the move is beginning to lose or gain steam over the month or weeks. With being on the road and missing sessions and charts to read I can't plan and manage my trades.

Any indicator or levels that you know and feel experienced in using for reading would work. I am sure divergence trading with MACD would be dynamite too. There are many subforums using HGI with other systems successfully. So yes Pivots would probably work great especially if you are experienced in using them. Pivots was one of the first trading systems I used as a young trader. Pivots was also used in some of my 10.xxxx series.

Hi Bob some questions for you, if i may.

1) over the past few days, AUD appears to be climbing on the CSS while CAD has come out of the 'range' region and also looks like its on its way up. If you look at the chart for AUDCAD, there was a HGI signal given some days back, at around 0.9920ish and again at 0.9850ish. Based on CSS alone, i wouldn't have looked here and therefore taken this trade, but then I would have missed out on some pips. Can you confirm if you would have taken this?

2) do you refrain from touching any currencies or pairs that are in the 'range' region, even if they are crossing? What if one is outside and another is in a range.

3) on your charts, do you use any other indies such as semafor or sixths etc, to show when a previous significant S/R line has been hit?

Thanks in advance.

I don't trade the AUD/cad often but I will dip into it now and then. It's not a volatile pair. However they are a very safe pair to trade because as fellow commodity currencies they range together a lot. So you range trade, that means you get in grab your 20-40 pips and get out. So if you want to do that it's fine. If both lines are between the -20+20 lines or they are running parallel to each other on CSS, you know you aren't getting a big run. Grab your pips and close out.

I will range trade, I will trend trade, I will counter trend trade. I do it all. It's why sometimes my pip count can be crazy high.

Right now I am only using CSS and HGI for my signals. On my iPhone charts I have 240, 60, and 15 MA lines. In my booklet I talk about how important the 240 and 60 MAs are in trading. Anyway according to my theories of what a trend is.

Mentally I watch the xxxx.00 lines. Price respects the 100 pip points on a chart and to me the most consistently S/R lines on a screen. It seems price either bounces here before it breaks through or is rejected. My second most favorite area to TP after 3 hours into a session.

All Trades
Trades Total: 44
Trades Won: 28
Trades Lost: 16
Trades Even: 0
Max Profit: 177 pips
Max Loss: -112 pips
Avg Profit: 50 pips
Avg Loss: -32 pips
Total Pips: 874.9

As some of you know I like to trade session opens. JPY session for 3-4 hours, EURO session 2-3 hours, and USA session for 3 hours and quit. I also did some AUD session for 2 hours this week a couple of times. I learned something real fast and boy was it nice. When those big arrows come up and there are 3-5 to one currency pair like GBP. Load up the bank because its going to move. Early in the week I was in the JPY session and all of a sudden GBP/NZD, GBP/JPY, GBP/AUD went bing bing bing within 5 minutes of each other. Well dang I watched to see what would happen and sure enough they moved strong up. Didnt trade them but just watched to see what was happening. Well I said OK see what happens.

Next day at the AUD open sure enough 4 AUD pairs gave me arrows so I played all four and bingo within minutes they were all in profit and hour or so later were all up 30+ pips. Later in the day in the EURO session all six GBP pairs fired off and I took 3 of them and they shot up over hundred pips in the next two hours. I began to watch this phenomenon and came up to some theories which I will try out this week.

When a currency moves at the beginning or just before a session and HGI sends 3 or more as a buy or a sell. Its moving baby so jump on board. I watched the GBP move early in the week. Caught a AUD move and finished later in the week a strong JPY move. Bombed out on a NZD one that did that but it was out of session and I shouldnt have taken it. So this week when I get chance I will try this:

AUD-NZD session---look to see if any aud or nzd pairs set off the arrows or blue wavy lines and enter if 3 or more pairs send arrows or wavy lines. Close 1-2 hours into the session
JPY session--Play JPY, AUD, NZD pairs to move during the first hour before/after the open close out 2-3 hours later.
EURO session--play GBP, CHF, and EURO pairs. Best moves came 2 hours after EURO open and close hour before USA session.
USA session--Play any pairs and take trades on currencies that gave at least 2-4 signals. Close out at EURO close and done. Winners or losers close out unless playing long term trades.

I did this using only the 4H signals so some sessions I had not trades. This week going to try 1H charts and see if at the beginning of a session I get multiple signals to trade a currency that is on the move. They come in bunches and quite quickly and seemed to work. We will see.
Bob,

Nice results. Soon you will get 2000 pips a month.

Regards,
Jeff

Going to be in Melbourne area July 21-24. VPS works great in ending signals. Thanks for the recommendation.

right so.. its Sunday night here in London.

According to CSS, we are looking at longs this week in CADJPY, AUDJPY and USDJPY (if the current trend continues).

The EUR seems to be making its way to the middle zone - do we leave this for now or can we trade it against, say, NZD or JPY which is falling?
