Yup, I did. Max bars in history is 10 million, max bars in chart is 65000.
I'd deleted all the data in this Empty4 with the intent of downloading/fresh, but that didn't work out. I tried running mbkennel's ForceLoadHistoricalData script, but that was spotty -- it only loaded about a dozen H4 bars if I remember right. All the Currency Slope Strength &etc indicators were generating bogus results, so I had to force-load data by hand. I'm looking at D1 and H4 (for the NB10.2 / Jemook / etc techniques) so I ran through all 28 pairs, holding down HOME until I had 10 yrs of D1 and 2 yrs of H4.
There's gotta be a better way.

Re: How to get historical data?
hi gary,
Otherwise you can try to use some kind of tool like automate or automizer to do this via an external macro.
Did you use the window application or the php script from birth for ducascopy data gathering?
happy weekend,

I did a quick look at mbkernels script...and since he is only checking via iBars the amount on bars on the chart this will not work to accumulate as much data as you want...but maybe we could trick it with a windows function call to trigger the home button a couple of times...dont know if this is really possible inside MTcrap.garyfritz wrote:I'd deleted all the data in this Empty4 with the intent of downloading/fresh, but that didn't work out. I also would be glad to find a easy and good solution...garyfritz wrote:There's gotta be a better way.

I'm not using dukascopy data at all. I've never successfully downloaded anything from their site. I'm just using the data from my crim -- that's what I get when I hold down HOME.

Re: How to get historical data?
hi gary,
did you also tried the Period Converter Optimized ?
I just tumbled over it and thought that this maybe could do a better job for you...only a thought.
happy trading,
NeoTrader
P.S.: and I still work on the Script for automatic Data gathering via Home Key.

Re: How to get historical data?
Hm, no, but that looks like a realtime period converter -- e.g. creating realtime offline M3 charts. I don't need that -- I just wanted to import known-good M1 data (from TS, in my case) and have it converted into M5, M15, M30, H1, H4, D1, W1, M1. The All Period Generator from FF was supposed to do that, but as I posted above, it didn't seem to work right.

You can try download pages
1. http://www.truefx.com/?page=downloads
2. http://www.histdata.com/
Or use downloader e.g. tools of:
1. http://www.tickstory.com/
2. http://www.strategyquant.com/tickdatadownloader/
IMO, one should care about the Data Provider, regard the data quality. Not all crims share same provider, each provider produces rates with its specific attributes, e.g, points, gaps, lags. That's not mention of some intentional distortions by spread stretching or modifications by the crims. And those chaos differ from other's hence backtest and optimization settings may vary from one to the other crims.
Know your crim, let your ea plays with crim's tricks and cheats, that's best way. Forward test is better, backtest is for raw qualification only.
