SERIOUS WARNING
  • Most Forex traders lose all their money.
  • Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
  • Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
  • Trading this robot without understanding its underlying trading strategies guarantees traders will lose their money.
  • This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention.
  • At best, a trading robot is only 90% as good as the manual strategy it trades. At best. At worst, it can be much less effective. If the strategy is rubbish, so is the robot.
  • To trade this robot, you have to understand:
MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS POST http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 41#p111241 There was a Forex bloodbath on Jan 15th 2015 that you need to know about.

You need the "SPB core library.mqh" file in your platform's Include folder. Download it from viewtopic.php?p=159559#p159559

A Flying Buddha is a signal that the market could be set to resume the overall trend after a retrace. It has three elements:
  • A 5 period moving average.
  • A 10 period moving average.
  • The previous candle.
There is a FB when:
  • Buy signal:
    • 5 MA is below the 10 MA.
    • The previous candle traded entirely below the 5 MA.
  • Sell signal:
    • 5 MA is above the 10 MA.
    • The previous candle traded entirely above the 5 MA.
The attached indicator by Swing Man draws the moving averages and FB signals for you. SPFBB does not need it as I have included the FB-detection code within the bot.

By default, SPFBB trades thus:
  • Buy:
    • D1 and H4 SS must both be > 2.
    • H4 Peaky must be long.
    • The previous candle must have generated a FB signal, indicating a substantial retrace against SS and Peaky.
  • Sell:
    • D1 and H4 SS must both be < -2.
    • H4 Peaky must be short.
    • The previous candle must have generated a FB signal, indicating a substantial retrace against SS and Peaky.
I have released the bot with my testing set hard-coded. The basket closure target is pure guesswork - I have no idea what this should be.

I have been running SPFBB for two weeks at the time of writing this. He lost a little last week, then clawed this back on Tuesday when he closed a Recovery pair. The open position is currently +681 pips.

Early days, but I regard this as a promising bot because it obeys the principle of trading after a strong retrace in the 'wrong' direction. We shall see.

You can find all the usual inputs etc described in the Slopey Peaky Bob user guide. The Flying Buddha inputs correspond to those of Swing Man's inputs apart from FbCloseOnOppositeFB.

Give it a go and see what happens.

Found this on the internet so we can see what the indicator is doing.
Version .2 is attached with a fixed MA drawing

========================================================
extern double factorWindow=0.03;

windHeight = WindowPriceMax() - WindowPriceMin();
offset = windHeight*factorWindow;

//-- adjust offsets
if (offset!=oldOffset)
{
oldOffset=offset;
for (i=MaxBars; i>=0; i--)
{
if (signalDN!=EMPTY_VALUE)
signalDN=High+offset;
if (signalUP!=EMPTY_VALUE)
signalUP=Low-offset;
}
}

Fantastic Ben. Thanks very much. :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:

I have replaced the original .ex4 file in pst 1 with the updated .mq4 source file that Ben found for us.

The source code shows that the indi's MaxBars input controls how far back in time to start showing the FB signals. Try zooming right out and then limiting this input to 1000 to see it in operation. It also shows that factorWindow is a neat trick to fix the positions of the arrows re the candle's hilo.

This is stuff the EA does not need and means that I can bring the FB-spotting code into SPFBB resulting in a huge saving on cpu resources. Some time soon.

Thanks to Ben, the updated version in post 1 has the FB-detection code within SPFBB. :clap: :clap: :clap:

I have updated the indi as well, so that the mode and price inputs are enumerations. An enumeration is a construct that only contains allowable inputs, so that users cannot enter inputs that cannot be used. SPFBB does not need the indi at all; I have included it merely for individual chart display purposes.

Code: Select all

//-- short signal
      if (Draw_SellSignals && dLow>MathMax(EMAfast[i1],EMAslow[i1]))
         signalDN[i1]=High[i1]+offset;

      //-- long signal
      if (Draw_BuySignals && dHigh<MathMin(EMAfast[i1],EMAslow[i1]))
         signalUP[i1]=Low[i]-offset;
Please can you confirm that is right?
