Re: HGI
Hi, I like the HGI and post as an experienced trader.
I am currently testing it with Ichimoku Cloud. Initial impressions look good.
I also like to use QQE indicator to confirm signals.
I feel I should try and make a positive contribution to this forum, so I'm happy to post an update if there is any interest?

Of course there is. We love to see traders using stuff in imaginative ways.UltiForex wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 5:25 pm Hi, I like the HGI and post as an experienced trader.

Read the effing manual, ok?
Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.
I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.
Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. [email protected] is the account.

Initial impressions are good. Here is EURGBP H1 (I am looking to sell on a HTF analysis).SteveHopwood wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 5:54 pm

You can clearly see how the Ichimoku Cloud acts as support or resistance; in doing so it validates some HGI signals and limits others. I would like to see a Trend Sell form up beneath the Cloud.
This might not suit everyone, but I happen to like Ichimoku Cloud anyway.

Note: I do not consider the last Trend Buy signal as valid, because it appeared beneath the Cloud (acting as potential resistance), even though it did break higher.

Re: HGI
Hi Guys,
After a long period of inactivity, I’m back.
I’ve slowly started trading again as well.
In the past, I also used HGI, and it was already an amazing indicator back then. So, I’ve started using HGI again now.
However, I’m wondering if any of you have used or tested an EA (Expert Advisor) in combination with HGI. I know that manual trading is still the best approach, but sometimes I just don’t have the time to follow everything in detail.
I hope you won’t hold this against me, as well as the fact that I haven’t read all HGI topics since 2014.
Regards,
Jurgen

Regards,
Welcome back.
Quite a lot has changed in recent years. Catch up with developments at my, "First steps at SHF" thread at viewtopic.php?p=174966#p174966. You especially need to come to grips with Thomas' TDesk and my Desky. TDesk generates signals according to the criteria you set and Desky responds to these signals and handles all the trading.
I wrote an EA that traded purely off HGI signals, years ago. This bot would make gazillions of pips one week then give them straight back the following one. The reason was simple; HGI takes no notice of support and resistance. A market that had gone long for ages is going to turn around soon yet HGI still generates buy signals even though they are inevitably going to fail. It generates buy signals even though only the inexperienced would buy in such a position.
These days, members use all sorts of confirmation before acting on a HGI signal. UltiForex (3 posts up) is using Ichimoku Cloud and, sometimes, the QQE indi to confirm the validity of an HGI signal.
Get your head around TDesk first. You will not be sorry for doing so.
