Fractalated Bob

EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

I spent several hours with my wife at her residential nursing home today - yes I always do but today was special. She is to be sent home as soon as a particular kind of mattress is delivered and it keeps on not turning up. So there is disappointment and so I spent extra time with her today, away from my computer.

I arrived home to find that FB/mptm had closed 3 baskets today at +218, making 340 so far this week and 604 since starting to trade FB live - nearly 18% of the starting balance. Ok, so bugger all in cash terms since it is a bugger all size account, but these are pips made by the bot that I conceived and whose trading system I designed. I am happy with it so far. Fact is, this is a live cash trading account. Yes, it is cash I can afford to lose, but I still do not want to, so I take care of all of this and do not hesitate to close something that appears wrong to me.

DISCLAIMER. ONLY A CRETIN IGNORES THIS.
Just remember guys that trading is an individual thingy. Just because I am enjoying some (possibly only temporary) success trading as I do, this does not mean that you will.

This is my bot trading my system derived from the work of others here and a lot of hard-won experience in the train-wreck of retail Forex trading. You might not be able to make it work for you.

So, think twice before asking for and adopting, someone else's set file or trading methodology. Up to you whether you accept this next statement or not, but one day you will come to recognise its validity: you can only trade successfully something you have either designed yourself or adapted/understood sufficiently to be able to use it without referring to a set of 'rules' written by someone else.

Guess how I know?

Steve, That is awesome news. So very happy to hear that news.

Please give your wife our best wishes and let he know she (and you) are in our prayers.. all the way from Miami, FL. Seems like she may need a bit of a welcome home surprise.. let me know when.. and I will make it happen again..

I think the confusion comes from you using FBob v1f where OOTB the MA settings are set to H4 240 LWMA Open , whereas the very first version was set to H4 240 SMA Open, which is what I think fxozgirl is using.

There is a huge difference between the two.

V 1g is in post 1. I discovered a useful feature this morning that allows us to capture evidence if we think FB has misbehaved. From post 1:
Chart screenshots
FB can take a picture of your chart when it opens or closes a trade. Use this to post pictures here if you suspect that FB has not behaved as expected. There is a section of inputs just underneath the minimum pips section, with inputs to turn this featureon/ off and to adjust the height and width of the snap. Files are saved with the name "ChartScreenShot" and the ticket number, when the EA opens or closes a trade. Navigate to the files via File/Open Data Folder/MQL4/Files. Remember to delete these files from time to time to avoid clogging up your disk drive.
Coders, adding this function to your own ea's is easy. I will add it to my shells and post them later.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I received a couple of donations from kind members earlier. Thanks very much guys; much appreciated and I shall reply personally later. For now, I still have some coding to do.

Multi-Pair version with BEC (Basket Equity Closure)

Post by Radar »

Hey Steve,

I love the look of this baby! :)

I tried creating a multi-pair version, with Basket Equity Closure, but my brain just started buzzing with confusion :( I'm ok with simple CPE coding, but beyond that, the complexity becomes overwhelming :(

The method I was thinking of goes like this...

1. When entering trades, the EA checks for the existence of a BasketStartDateTime GlobalVariable, and if there isn't one, then it is created with the Date & Time of the first trade of the basket...

2. From there, it would tally Profit/Loss of closed trades backwards to BasketStartDateTime, and add/subtract Floating Profit/Loss, close the basket at our target Basket Equity, and delete the GV, ready for the next new basket.

This way, we can use it as part of a portfolio of systems.

I tried to code it and failed, but I know there are much better coders out there than I that could put this together, so I figured I'd put it out here before I forgot the damn thing ;)

Take care,

&

Have fun!

Radar =8^)

Ouch

Hehe. Remember my wrup on Sunday - when I warned against buying GBP because of the Scotland Independence Referendum?

Ok, so I was right earlier in the week and selling GU worked nicely. Today, my GU sell just closed following a brief cross of the 240 at -193 pips. Ouch:

A fiver says that the market now zooms down to oblivion and Sterling is wiped out by morning. :D

Hey ho. It still leaves me up 148 pips so far this week - not so great as it was this time yesterday, but still pretty good.
