Just to highlight what a difference there is between sma and lwma, here is the chart I was viewing when FB closed that GU, snapshot taken by the latest version of FB:

I had forgotten to change the chart MA to lwma, and had it on sma instead. Quite some difference. The trade closing was something of a surprise. :D

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Hey Steve, wanted to share this.. for those who have an interest in following the results very closely, I am monitoring Twitter and BBC radio Live..

Links to share/follow: twitter #ScotlandDecides and #indyref
Also, can listen to BBC radio.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radioscotland

I am monitoring both.. Not slept for a few days waiting on this.. very tired.. getting cat naps inbetween.. glad when the weekend arrives.

I did grab some pips from EURCHF when the CHFCB announced not change in rates.. . .1.20 is being defended very heavily.

Cheers

Say hello to your wife.. best wishes..

Multi-Pair version with BEC (Basket Equity Closure)

Post by skoda2008 »

I love the look of this baby! :)

I tried creating a multi-pair version, with Basket Equity Closure, but my brain just started buzzing with confusion :( I'm ok with simple CPE coding, but beyond that, the complexity becomes overwhelming :(

The method I was thinking of goes like this...

1. When entering trades, the EA checks for the existence of a BasketStartDateTime GlobalVariable, and if there isn't one, then it is created with the Date & Time of the first trade of the basket...

2. From there, it would tally Profit/Loss of closed trades backwards to BasketStartDateTime, and add/subtract Floating Profit/Loss, close the basket at our target Basket Equity, and delete the GV, ready for the next new basket.

This way, we can use it as part of a portfolio of systems.

I tried to code it and failed, but I know there are much better coders out there than I that could put this together, so I figured I'd put it out here before I forgot the damn thing ;)

Take care,

&

Have fun!

Why not just calculate the profit/loss based on magic number instead of a global variable?

I can imagine the insane amount of stress doing this.
Your blood pressure jumps up and down with every vote count coming in.
Definitely not for the faint hearted.

I have done ok.. picked up another 4.2% on account. I traded long on GBPUSD, GBPAUD, GBPJPY. Very tired.. I am in and out on each poll announcement.. Every time there was a No vote for majority, the GBP jumps.. At some point in time.. markets will reverse.. buy the rumor, sell the news trading..

Multi-Pair version with BEC (Basket Equity Closure)

Hey Skoda,

We still need to determine when the basket was started, though.

The way MPTM's Global_Equity_Closure works is that it checks the account equity when a basket is started... When (Closed_Trade_Profit - Closed_Trade_Loss) +/- Floating_Profit/Floating_Loss >= Target_Equity_Profit, it closes all trades, regardless of which entry system was used.

By having a multi-pair EA that sets a GV with the start time/date of the current basket, you can look back through the history, looking for the right magic number, but it will stop when it finds the first trade in the current basket, and it will only close the trades it "owns", so you can use it alongside other systems and it won't close their trades... Without the GV, when a second basket is started, the EA will not only look at the closed trades of the second basket, but also the trades from the first basket...

The GV is a line in the sand, telling the EA, "You shall not pass!".

Hope that clears it up ;)

Have fun!

Oh yeah, I forgot about having to remember the account balance at the open of the first trade (or profit target). :arrrg:

I was just trying to think of a way to not resort to global variables, in the past I have written values to the comment field of orders instead, mainly so I could swap between VPS's etc., and not have to remember to manually set up the global variables too.
