Love this approach, particularly that it will work with many different strategies. Thanks! Much to think about. |

Hey Nonlinear, Glad you like the concept The next step is to find a good, consistent trend trading EA that has a high win\loss ratio, and plug the scale-in module into it. I may have found quite a few, but with Empty4's slacktester, I sure as hell couldn't tell This is the first half of a larger project that I've had in mind for quite a while... I tested it as much as I could, but wanted feedback from more experienced traders & EA users, to see if there was any bugs I missed, or if any of the code could be improved, but the silence has been deafening Please try it out in the slacktester before you start using in in demo, and let me know if it does anything weird. Have fun! Radar =8^) |

Hey Dudest, Hell yeah! But with Empty4's slacktester, I've never been able to replicate Phil's success Since I've started testing with ProTrader3, I've gone back to MM, but found some inconsistencies in the results. I posted the results on the PT forum, and they found the problem within a couple of days, and the fix will be in the next update, which will be released this coming Friday. I'll be testing MM again from Fri night onwards. MM doesn't really have a good win\loss ratio, though... There's a hell of a lot more losers than winners... It's just that the winners are soooo damn good! I see you've recently released an EA I might even have to pinch some of your code to put into StackMan, as I need to find where to stop scaling-in, and your system picks the SR ranges nicely! Have fun! Radar =8^) |

Hey Radar! Actually, I felt kinda silly after asking if you'd checked out MM coz I remembered we'd been together on the MM thread, and also that (as you've rightly said), MM doesn't have a high win rate. After reading your post, I've thought about it rather deeply, and I cant think of any trend trader with a high win rate :/ :/ Makes me wonder whether those two can be had together ( "trend trader" & "high win rate" ). Just to check this further, I checked Zorro's trend trader (Z1) , and it has a win rate of about 35%... I'm thinking then that for an EA trend trader to have a high win rate, it maybe needs to operate on a lower timeframe, e.g M15/M30 [ Z1 works on H4, Phil's MM works on D1 ]. Makes sense then why you tried to adapt MM to M15, that was clever. I guess 'hard-core' trend traders ( on H4, D1 ) by definition make money by high R:R, not win-rate. The only other possible candidate I can think of is TCO Trader; I wonder whether cuzgeorge or AGT have tested it; unfortunately I haven't gotten to demo it yet [ 6 different methods to follow trend ]. @My EA: thanks Cheers! |

Hey Dudest, Thanks for the link to the Zorro systems. The grid systems look good, but the scare the crap out of me... I prefer anti-grid (such a silly name for scaling-in, eh?). I'd probably combine the two, if I ever get my head around Zorro Lower timeframes definitely give you winners more often than higher timeframes, but the count of losers is disproportionally higher, due to spiking. Still, with good stops management, and scaling-in, we can alleviate that problem somewhat. I look at TCO, and my head hurts! I reckon it'll show me where to stop scaling-in, which is a pretty good idea, when I'm risking half of my profit with each scale-in As long as you can pick your stops, it does the job very nicely I think I've commented the main bits of the scale-in method used... I'll check, and if I haven't, I'll edit and re-upload. Have fun! Radar =8^) |

I totally agree with you about the Stops management! Actually, that's why in my EA I only open 1 stack trade after the original has gone to breakeven ( coz the SL will still be around the bottom of the price swing ). After that, it got tricky ( due to spikes and minor retracements ). I hope TCO ( or other good trend trader ) can work out Cheers! |

Looks like this topic and / or project has faded away; however, it is the only one I can find that is remotely similar to this - The Double in A Day Forex Technique at http://www.doubleinadayforex.com/ Basically an EA that can be manual or automatic. From what I understand, you calculate risk on first position and target for profit; the EA adds on when trade in profit, either 2 or 3 positions, has a quick stop loss. Seems like initial risk wouldn't be more than a normal trade scenario, and to double the account is not necessarily to goal for every trade. Anyone studied this or know of any similar EA development here on SHF? Thanks, John |

Slow weekend, everybody watching the Greek vote perhaps, anyway, this is how I trade now manually so if anyone knows of an EA that does SIZE calculations on the fly, I really am interested. Obviously, if more thought was put into these trades, the results could be astronomical, oh well, maybe not that good but enough to cover a few stop outs? |
