Hi dudest,

Thanks for the nice strategy and the links.
was hesitating to post the below info since it is too early to tell,
however, since you have done 10-11 months of back test, you should be able to check the below information to see how helpful it is.

Based on the fxbook analysis,
You can set an aggressive stoploss of around 12 pips to limit the losers. Reference MAE analysis.
This means that usually your winners should not retrace more than 12 pips, so if anything retraces more than 12 pips...most likely it is a loser.
You might have to validate this from backtest.

The other thing is ...would you be able to check from backtest:
did the system perform consistently poor in GMT hours 1500, 1600, between 2200-0400 ?
was the long trade losers or short trade losers in those hours ?
If so that could be an area of improvement to block out those hours.

The risk: if you narrow down to these criteria as above, you could have issues when market conditions change , then profitability would take a beating.

Going to run a demo of this to see the performance of this.

Cheers

Thanks Dudest...looking forward to this :D
I'm trying to build a portfolio with 3-4 different strategies.
BASA is one, your system will hopefully be another good candidate, I'm cherry picking manual EDSEL trades & Entropy hopefully will round them out

Good luck to you & all of us :cheer:

Cheers

He certainly is. Congratulations dudest. :clap:

I am going to post my first weekly round up of 2014 tomorrow night, and will include a link to this thread to try to drum up more interest.

Hey SpiderX!

I'm very grateful to have you here and for digging into the MyFXB stats, good on you!

-------------

@MAE:

True dat. Seems an aggressive SL of <= 15pips can cut $ losses by a good chunk.

In backtests ( to verify functionality + debug ), an year like 2012 required a larger stop ( actually, hence the 30pips ). Haven't done the ADR/ATR measurements but 2012 seemed more volatile in terms of daily swing, and provided quite a bit of undulation. 2013 was more of a price-falling-like-a-rock year; price would range a bit then suddenly drop ( relatively fewer undulations ).

But I digress...

Back to MAE: I will def investigate this further. In the meantime, I hope to come across a decent WFA tool; would tell us now what an optimal SL would be. [ @WFA tool: have tried the open-source one by DarwinFX, but it's still quite buggy (e.g crashes, no output), hopefully these will be sorted out soon (feedbacks posted on different forums).

-------------

@Hours of day -vs- winners/loses

I actually checked this up earlier, and found little correlation (across years). In some tests I would kill the Asian session and leave only London and NY, only to find a good number of times Asia provided a good amount of $$. So I just put in the MaxSpread check (to prevent trading during a phenomenal lack of liquidity) and let it trade throughout the day.

Thanks for your quality feedback!, much appreciated. Look forward to more :)

Cheers!
