I returned home tonight to find that mptm had closed my majors + GJ trades at its requisite 2% of balance profit.
There were 23 trades open altogether, and a basket of that many trades changes its upl very quickly, so I actually ended up with just over 3% by the time everything had closed - +171 pips.
The same thing happened today as happened on Friday. The basket originally went into a couple of hundred pips drawdown as FB gradually opened more trades. A good move by all the pairs in my favour, late in the day here in the UK, resulted in my profit target being hit.
Just looking at EU, its plunge on Friday took it a long way from the moving average. It opened on Sunday night with a decent sized lower gap which it has not filled. It grunged around for much of yesterday and today, until the downward spike took out the trades - similar picture on the other pairs, in whatever direction they are trending overall. Most of them are now a massive distance away from the H4 240 MA and due a retrace.
So what will happen during a decent sized retrace? I am hoping that the same as Friday will happen - the reason I have not added trade number restrictions or minimum pips distances between trades. In the meantime, the bot will continue to take trades whenever it spots the chance to do so - but we have to wait and see what happens during a sustained counter-move.
For now, have a play with the attached. FB does nothing with the information it displays and so trades exactly the same as the post 1 version. This one has a minimum allowable pips from the moving average input, and plots a turquoise dashed line at that point. Then it uses ATR and a multiplier to plot a dotted line at ATR * AtrMultiplier at the point on the chart that represents that value. You usually have to view the H4 chart to see these lines.
Have a look and see if you can draw any conclusions about the value of limiting trading to within the confines of the range identified by the lines.
