Also, Grid trading works best on a Wednesday and Thursday as this is when most pairs have increased volatility and will tend to trend up or down far more than normally.

Running it on a Monday would just give you serious whipsaw.

Thanks Scoobs, for a couple of really helpful posts; I have linked them in post 1.

There is a major problem with trading this EA through a news event that does move the market rapidly. This EA works by sending a virtual grid and then 'fills' each trade as the market touches/breeches each level.

If the market hurtles off in either direction, the ridiculous combination of Empty4 being unable to cope and the crims doing their utmost to stop traders placing trades will prevent most of the trades being sent.

Not sure what to do about this yet - I probably need a bath. :lol:

Hello Steve,

Thanks for the fantastic EA. It looks really promising. I am running 2 x demo on Cowboy IBFX AU and Cowboy Go Markets.

What I noticed, that once one side of the grid closes out because it reaches the TP target, the EA does not open up another set of grid in the same direction. The other side still there but if the market keeps going the way the first trade was closed off, it can run away and cause a huge drawdown because we still have one or two open trades in the other direction.

I agree with another members suggestion, that if one pair reaches the set target and closes one side of the grid off, we shoul rinse all the trades on the otherside as well and start a new grid from scratch.

I am only running the EA for a few hours now and it is already in profit and closed out a lot of trades.

I will try an GEC EA to close at regular interval and see what happens.

It is a very good start and if we can restart after each closure, then I am sure we can have a winner here.

The EA may be activated 3-4 minutes after the news release so as to avoid the initial spikes and Empty4 problems. The market will still be quite active then for the grid. By the way, projecting Scoobs suggestion, the EA may have a red news module (to take advantage of all big news, not just NFP) and an "x" minutes after news input (we can do it manually as well, nothing wrong with some human intervention, right?).

One thing that bothers me is the initial hedge. No matter what happens next, the first two trades will at all times hedge each other, so their contribution to the TP target will be null, apart from the spread that we pay for them. I guess placing just one iniital trade (randomly or defining the direction according to some parameter - RSI, last candle, other) would make more sense.

PipsBetweenTrades = 26 (Based on GBPJPY volatility over 240 days / 5, 4 digit)
CashprofitTargert = 100
Lots = 0.10
NoOfTrades = 50

I just downloaded that EA and made some tests .... yes this is good one .... I use almost same system at the moment as well .... only my system makes both type of orders .... if market goes up or down it make buy and sells orders. Now you ask how it working? The "wrong" orders closed with minus AND in that time one of the right order had placed STOP in profitable direction ..... and my trailing system do rest of job. So ... 8if there is trend then I win .... but in sideways I lost a money ... but not much. If market takes direction then whole system already waiting. So .... I try compare that system in same logic .... I use trailing for that, If EA allows to use that and sends no errors. This mean that if market change his direction then it depands what type of trailing I use - but trailing should close my orders then

Update: Nevermind That

I think I screwed up the parameters on the EA. Scoob do you want to suggest some pairs/settings and I'll reset it? The broker demo only works with mini lots so I was using a $10k account..

Latest update in post 1:
  • Added Rsi trend detection - details in post 1.
    Added trading hours - defaults to 24Hm trading.
    Added code to delete all outstanding pending trade lines if there are no trades open, to allow for manual closure of the basket.

Can here possible to change one thing .... lets say if my treiling system has took out some middle orders then EA dont fill that space .... it would be helpful if EA makes new pending orders there.
