This looks great.. I have been traveling lots this past year so have not spent much time here but have kept up with posts and developments. SHF has been busy! Just to add my 2 cents... as I am currently testing my own system in a similar way with a grid based on the idea of Hurst cycles using TMA from the HGI with Hurst thread here a year ago. When I say grid I mean limit orders in the direction I wish to trade so what I am saying does not relate to hedging. What I have found is that using ATR for a grid works really really well to optimize for each pair. And there is definitely a sweet spot in terms of grid size which is much bigger than I first realized. Right now for example I am using 10 grid positions spaced according to H1 ATR for each pair. This allows a fantastic average into trades which I hold for up to a week. If I was trading HGBnG on H4 and looking to hold trades for a day or two I would perhaps look at D1 ATR for each pair and divide this by 10 to get my grid size. If the original signal is say 50 - 60 % accurate in catching an immediate move then obviously there will be a large number of trades that only activate a small portion of a grid this size but for the remaining 40-50% ... it turns what would be frustrating draw down into massive pip potential and provides a significant safety net if the trend has turned against the signal direction .. as the first retrace in the new trend usually enables an average break even (of course this may not be relevant here since there is a close on opposite built in. I just scale out of positions in order of sequence if price happens to go beyond my grid). Just thought this was worth sharing here as experimenting with more grid positions stacked closely together may enable the most pips to be extracted safely for anyone trading HGBnG without hedge. Current example for me on EURNZD this week as below: |

Hi TraderJoe, I have experimented too with ATR'd grid size in the past, but had to drop this due to this being very hard and time consuming to do manually. I see you're using an automated tool for this ATR grid building? Maybe this approach combined with Trend Arrows from HGI is the way to go. |

Yes after a bit of brainstorming including a flight to Mexico! to meet someone that introduced themselves to me on this forum earlier in the year and after many months of trial and error we paid a coder to create the EA we needed initially as a helper for manual trading but now it's evolved pretty close to full auto depending on time frame. We are currently in the live test phase on a cent account. Initially I was experimenting with using a different number of positions for each pair so that position size varied according to volatility but have settled on just varying depth of grid instead which seems more efficient without affecting risk. I would suggest that it may be something worth looking into with HGBnG and also the idea of scaling out of trades rather than all close on opposite but that depends on the direction that Steve and Cyberevil wish to take. I have a feeling I know what Steve will say Hope this helps.. |

I am working on just that but manually at the moment, I totally agree there IS a sweet spot for every pair and its different for every time frame for the "perfect" grid size. I'm looking at ATR but most of the time I just look at the distance the price moves up or down from initial signals and end up dividing it into 3, 4 or 5 grids. We're still at early stages and taking it slow. I feel if we over tune this thing too fast we may bugger things up and have to come back to square one. I really don't want to waste Steve's time like that. I would feel guilty. However being said that, what I do like about ATR is that it always changes with market conditions and on the flip side of the coin it's based on the historic moves and the future may bring a surprise. It will however give us a dynamic grid sizing option. TraderJoe, can you let us know how ATR grids sizing works out for you? You should've saved your money on the programmer. Plenty of talent here on SHF! When it works: no need to make changes When it doesn't: need to make changes, we all know what we should have done here but this is to demonstrate it can go very wrong if you're not paying attention. This kind of signal has never worked for me and I know this in my heart/mind the push up was very aggressive for price and the pull back wasn't there to make this trade profitable. This is were scaling out would have stopped further loss and the next signal would have made the loss even. This is what I like about HGI. |

... I will be happy to keep you updated on my observations on grids. For now the more positions (stacked closer) the better is my gut relative to account size of course. just closed 5916 pips which is a record for me ![]() |

Guys please use the default settings to test the EA for now if you have no clue as to what this EA does. My set files won't help you much because they're only good for my trading style. Which most of you don't know because I haven't shared it anywhere. Please read the posts by Steve on page one to get a good understanding. :youknow: Make it your own, you have many options with this EA. Run it for a week to see what it does if you're totally lost or English is your second or third language. Tinker with it and run it for another week, rinse and repeat! |
