Thanks for the positive response! we'll deserve a better tool to write EAs!
I've updated another version 1.2.1 and it includes a few changes. Auto-completion is now case insensitive, also I changed some coloring so it's closer to meta-editor experience.
Also one of the more useful modification this time is the "document comment" and "document comment keyword" addition. It's easier to browse through sections of code with it. Document comment can be activated with "///" (instead of just 2 slashes).
"Document comment keyword" is a special word inside document comment. It is highlighted in bright color so it's easier to get noticed. Its usage is to prefix @ in front of one of the currently supported keywords TODO, FIXME, and OPTIMIZE.
You can see the screen shot http://code.google.com/p/scite-mql/wiki/WhatsNew
Enjoy!
PS. I think the only thing this editor can't do that meta-editor can is the meta-trader auto-update that Steve suggested in previous post. It'll be quite hard to do if not impossible. Gotta find out how those two process talk to each other first..

Re: Just made an IDE for MQL4
This tool looks great.
I just loaded an EA to edit it and first thing I see is that the font is too small.
I would need a magnifying glass to edit the code comfortably.
I searched everywhere to choose a bigger font but cannot find it.
Is there a way to make the text bigger ?

Yes there is, however currently there's no GUI for it. You can modify "SciTEGlobal.properties" and find lines at around 431-443 for font specifications. You can change the font as well as its size for different parts of the editor.f-trader wrote:...

I knew I was asking for something really hard here. It is no reflection on your skill if this turns out to be impossible. The fact is that you have offered us something invaluable already. I could not even dream of producing what you have already delivered. I love your IDE.w633 wrote:PS. Now I can read the code without reading glasses.
Your editor is fantastic.
Thanks for sharing it.

Re: Just made an IDE for MQL4
I wonder ... if you got that auto-update working, basically MetaEditor is totally dispensable. In that case would it be feasible to delete/rename MetaEditor.exe & replace it with your IDE? I'm thinking that hitting the Create/Modify options in Empty4 would then fire up the IDE instead of MetaEditor.

Re: Just made an IDE for MQL4
hi slipshotm
You should rename the MetaEditor first before you delete it...
And then test it... but it should accept at least one inputparameter (filename) to be useful with the modify function...If the MTcrap programmers used common sense..
@w633,
nicely done...i use notepad++ and zendstudio (eclipse) with some modifications for mql development...this has also most of your features. But i will give your ide a try.
happy trading,
NeoTrader

Re: Just made an IDE for MQL4
I was gonna try the eclipse customization but found it requires too much work so finally settled on SciTE customization, the hardest part is not to customize the editor, but to write a small program to parse the XML document file from Empty4. They certainly don't know XML.NeoTrader wrote: nicely done...i use notepad++ and zendstudio (eclipse) with some modifications for mql development...this has also most of your features. I can't imagine I'll have to write a program to get a complete documentation on MQL.
