G'day, Shelley. Wow! I am 'bowled over' that you like 'Duck'n'Bob'. This is something I have only been playing with for just a few days. It was born of my wanting to tighten my original 'Ducks" programme. I had an 'Epiphany" in the middle of treating a patient late last Thursday. The speed with which he built 'Duck'n'Bob' spoke volumes. Your interest has just increased that by a couple of orders of magnitude. I am only just now setting up the latest version (M5 for quick results) on 2 separate platforms to compare crims. Thinking about your suggestion I am wondering how much more effective the end-result would be to my Steps 3-10 - which, in effect, seem to me to do a reality check on each candle for a valid entry and then exit point. Steve, my experience is sadly lacking in this area. Can I ask for your input here please? The end-result is all that counts. I am only too happy to change if a better method is available. Thanks now. Cheers, Doc(aka Mark) |

Shelley... double WOW!!! You have just dragged me, laughing hysterically, into Area 3 knowledge - What I didn't know I didn't know! Light bulbs are firing off all over! I had seen Baluda's indi but had never thought of using it in synchro with the 3&8 MA. Looking at your charts I noticed that your trading method varies a bit from mine in that you close a trade when the 3MA is broken and reenter if/when the trend is continued - thereby protecting your earnings. In comparison I realize that my methodology is a bit more aggressive in that, once the trade is entered (>0.8/-0.8) I stay in the in the trade until the value =<0.8/-0.8. My protection is a 3 candle TS. Shelley, my whole criteria is the end-result. Will the programme consistently make money Y/N? You have been trading for longer than me and, from what I have seen, are light years ahead of me in trading knowledge, understanding and savvy. Such being the case, can I enlist your assistance to make 'Duck'n'Bob' or possibly 'Saluda Duck' very successful so we can both prosper? Is there any way you know of, short of demo trading a version of each, that we could find out which method is the most effective? Thanks for all your input. I will now download the Saluda indi and have a play alongside the others. You take care now, Cheers |

Doc, you're probably right, my suggestion probably means nothing (quite possibly will entail the same end result)...I haven't tested it yet, just a quick observation and definitely not an attempt to get you to change, more just to open a discussion on it. BTW...did you feel the earthquake up your way about an hour ago?? |

Haha Doc you make me laugh...if I'm way ahead of you, then the rest of the crew here are light years ahead of me. I can't code to save myself, but I like simplistic trading strategies and I like trying to identify simplified methods. Anyway, I don't think you pay yourself enough justice...you seem like you have a pretty good handle on things to me Now one thing with using the Currency Slope Strength indicator is you can't run it on all charts at once...it seems it is a resource hog and freezes my platform up after I load it on 3-4 charts. Not sure if anything can be done about that. Yes I have tweeked your strategy a little, I definitely prefer to lock in profits when I can and happy to lose a few pips in spread as the cost of getting out & getting back in. I think most traders have different preferences & tolerance levels to when/how to take profit. Happy to help where I can, and in my opinion forward demo testing is the best option for seeing how a strategy performs. Hopefully, Steve and some of the others may jump in here and help us 'down unders' out Cheers Shelley |

Shelley, hi! Everyone is talking about last night but, sadly, the Earth didn't move over my way - The Otways. I had a play with the Currency Strength indi. Talk about a memory hog! You are right! My gear is the latest I7 stuff with big heaps of RAM... and it ground to a halt after just loading the AUD pairs. Re the difference between that indi and the 10.2 TMA_Slope_Norm. If you think of the line that is formed by the outer (upper/lower) edge of the 10.2 bars as they rise up through the 0.8/-0.8 and curve around to reenter as the trend peters out as being similar to the currency strength curve -- you have the same bell curve. My figuring is/was that if I open a trade when the price breaks 0.8/-0.8 and exit when it break back the other way - I should have a nice trade. Take care now. Cheers |

Hi Aussie Doc a couple of posts back you asked about a way to test your system, I often use this little expert which I was kindly given by a trading associate, as a good way to test out ideas. I am sure they would not mind my sharing it here. Use this EA (which is totally empty) in the strategy tester of your platform just like you would back testing. Make a tpl with the indicators you are wanting to check out entries etc with. Tick the visual test, and slide the speed level way down slow, once you start the Strategy Tester & the EA starts to move the chart, attach your tpl and just watch as the charts, indies etc move along, and you can get a pretty good visual idea as to how effective the system will be. Hope this helps.... cheers Marlene |

G'day! Manually; it's going VERY well. But, because of my programming inexperience (zero) and severely limited spare time I am still working my way through the intricacies of getting Duck'n'Bob to work. Cheers. |
