I am trading the EA fully auto on demo. You could use it semi-auto by setting it to generate an alert rather than a trade, then go to the chart and look at stuff like S/R levels and the distance the market has moved before deciding to pull the trigger live.

I am uneasy about posting an indi where only the .ex4 file is available. I trust GoFX because Andy and I have both used it for quite a long time. What I do not like here is posting the compiled code without the permission of the individual coder.

It is possible for those of us with any qualms, to emulate GoFX easily. It is coloured green when the fast and medium MA's are above the slow, and red when they are below it. So:
  • Load three moving average indis onto the chart:
    • 5 period.
    • 13 period.
    • 34 period.
  • Set them all to:
    • Method: Linear Weighted.
    • Apply to: Weighted Close:
  • Set them all to different colours and line sizes.
I have made attempts over the years to learn to code indicators but indi coders are strange beasts who speak in tongues. My eyes glazed over and the whisky bottle started to call to me seductively every time.

What I can do is code an indi that displays values rather than points on a chart. I can write one that displays, "Buy (or sell) only". This way all our consciences are clear.

Or maybe, one of our genius indi coders could devote about 5 minutes to coding an SHF version of GoFX?

Not bad for the first week. Metals and Oil made 170 bucks. JPY pairs were also good.

Fabulous results from Thomas, using the EA. :clap: :clap: :clap:

I made 261 pips live and manual this week. Rounded for convenience, this was 141 from XAUUSD and 120 from NJ.

Given our mutual success with the gold pairs and Thomas' with them and oils, I am starting to think that we need to move away from the (inspired by me) SHF fixation with the standard forex pairs. Early days, so we shall see.

I created a template that would emulate GoFX and wrote an indi that would read the three moving averages to give an overall trade direction.

I was about to post when sanity intervened and I stopped to wonder why the three lines always changed colour at the same time. I closer look at the charts revealed why.

Imagine that all three lines are green. The fast MA falls below the slow MA. The lines remain green. They do not turn red until the medium MA falls below the slow.

Ditto the opposite. The lines are now red. Next the fast rises above the slow MA. The lines remain red until the medium also crosses the slow and they turn green.

I worked this out by going into GoFX's colour settings and changing the line thicknesses so that fast, medium and slow MA lines are more obvious. The attached template does the work for you - it is the one I am using live.

So I need some extra coding to the indi before I post it - sometime this week.

It also questions the wisdom of trading in one direction when the fast MA is heading in the wrong one. It also had implications for the EA, which takes its trading direction from the colour of the fast MA. We shall see.

Thanks for this new EA :) I set up two identical platforms, one with positive Swap only and one without, to see the comparison. However, it seems that the OnlyTradePositiveSwap filter is not enough to trigger the check, am I missing something?

I will look into this. The check is legacy coding that goes back more than a decade. I have not been demoing the EA, so possibly something has been lost in the latest bot.
