Thanks. I will. I always have great days, 'cos they are inhabited by great kids. I took on a new one tonight, an utterly lovable 13 year old. At the end of the lesson, Mum asked if I am prepared to continue with Megan. This did not entirely compute. "Sorry?" Mum asked again if I am prepared to continue teaching Megan. The mist cleared from my lack-of-understanding. Bloody silly question. "Of course I am. I adore her." Mum turned to Megan and asked, "Are you happy to have lessons here?" Came the answer, "Come on mum, get a grip. (I should add that 'get a grip' is a much-used expression in these parts.) Of course I am." I had just doled out the therapy, so the answer might be different when the therapy wears off. I hope not, She really is gorgeous.By gum, I love my day job. |

Come on Steve -get a grip. Of course you will teach everyone. It's what you do. I love it. My sister is a special needs teacher and email is getagrip@....com. Her point being forget your personal opinion, life is beyond your control or perception so simply get a grip and get over it!!! |

Interesting experience today, talking to 14 year old Charley (Charlotte). It is the end of the school year here in the UK, so lessons are winding down. C's History teacher has been showing them the film 'Schindler's List'. Even though I know it is coming, I cannot help but blub at the final scene when the descendants of the survivors are shown, or depictions of them - not sure which. These are people who would not have been born were it not for the activities of this remarkable individual. Charley is as sure as she could be that there was not a dry eye in her classroom. Lovely to see modern children caring enough tp be affected by something they cannot possibly even begin to understand. SL must have come out in the early 1990's, because I was teaching 'A' level music at a UK 6th form college (16-19 year olds) at the time, and was earnestly instructed by a 16 year old to watch the film at the earliest possible opportunity. I think that sometimes we underestimate the emotional understanding of our children. |

Po. 68861 KINSTLINGER Henryk 11.11.15 ang. Metallverarb. Before the holocaust My father's mother was married with 5 children–she lost her husband and all her kids to Hitler. My father's father was married with 6 children and he lost his wife and all his children to Hitler. After having lost their entire families they met for the first time in Auschwitz and promised each other that if they both made it out alive they would meet up at a certain place and time and get married. He was saved by Schindler and she made it out somehow too and they got married and had my dad and his sister. My father and mother are my heros and there's nothing he wouldn't do for our family. My parents had 7 kids. 3 of them are married with 2 kids each and are spread out in Australia, Israel and South Africa. Thanks to Schindler there's about 20 of us running around living a beautiful and plentiful life. In regards to the holocaust - NEVER AGAIN. |

My 15 year old son has also studied the book and watched the film this year, with the same emotions as your C showed...I think we all have a responsibility to educate our kids about the Holocaust and ensure it never, ever is allowed to happen again. |
