Or maybe you combine them? Go long when Slope > 0.4 AND Slope is increasing?

I'll throw it out there and let some of you creative types take a whack at it.......

I've being doing this for the last couple of weeks - it definitely seems better to me
I've been doing this too but using slope level as a guide too. I am using primarily H4 charts but use the D1 slope level. For example if the H4 slope direction is up but the D1 slope level is still significantly negative <-0.8 then I expect price to move up but I treat it as a retracement and look to enter when the slope turns down again.

I basically adjust how I view potential price action that the slope direction indicates based on the D1 level.

I am still playing around with it and trying different combos of slope/diff etc but it is working pretty well so far.

Hi All,

Just read the discussion on here and the first thing that came to my mind was Hull Moving average, especially with its quality of indicating the change very quickly as compared to other MAs.. Or something on the lines of Hull, and TrendLine indicator on a shorter term to visualise the change/reversal in trend...
(as you can see this is my first post, so ignore if I've said something which has been stated somewhere... )

Details and maths behind Hull MA is given in the article below... simple but effective I believe...

I used to play around with Hull a bit last year. What settings are you using / do you recommend with it?

Jem
Hi Jem,

I've used it with 10period, on 4h(representing 40hrs = 1.6Day) and on Daily(representing 2weeks)...

Ideally 10 period shows early signs of reversals on 4h, which can be confirmed on daily within a 1d or 2d moves and we can save/gain some pips....

But I am sure legends on here can tweak it to make it more effective...
Things that came to my mind was, instead of using Hull on price, what if we use it on histograms or TMA histogram ??
I am not great at coding so haven't done anything, but just trying to visualise how using Hull on either histogram can turn out.

I am aware I shouldn't mention this here, but try putting the Bill Williams Alligator(3 lines) to check the trend continuation/reversal, it does have its merits for staying/getting out of trend. Something very simple which can make NB10.2xx very easy and effective.

In regards to HMA I think the 5.1 MA (a la 10.2) gets us in sooner or around the same time. You can definitely use Hull as double confirmation though. Also consider showing us screenshots and examples for things such as the Bill Williams indicator. Makes it easier for us to digest.

Welcome to the forum!!

Hi all.

at the moment i'am on vacation but on Friday home again. I can try to program a 'pitch-slope' indicator which returns a value between 90 and -90 reflecting the current pitch of the TMA-slope indi.
Does it make sense or has steve allready something in his poket ? :-)

greets from very rainy austria

No he doesn't and has not actually kept up with events here. Plus, indi code baffles and bewilders me. Catching up with what is happening here is on my radar for later this week.

So, for me, go ahead and code the indi, bearing in mind that I have no idea what you are talking about.
