Two possible solutions for you here.

Had you placed your grids at 10% of the daily ATR which is 240 for the last 10 days and then rounded up you would have placed your grid size at 25 pips.

Price went down 69 pips from daily open so you have 2 negative trades. Price went up 225 pips from DO so 8 winning trades.. Job done grid would have closes with 2 losses and 7 wins, plenty of room in that rise to get the trade done.

Second option, GBPAUD moves mostly in the UK market so set EA to trade from the 0800 UK market open. Had you done this you would have 1 losing trade and 11 winning trades, well I say 11 the grid would have closed at 1 loss 5 wins so again plenty of room for you to have closed in a very nice profit.

When the market moves against you for say two grids and you have a too big or in this case a too small grid size there is very little room based upon recent ATR data for the market to continue moving in the desired direction in order to not only cancel out your losing grids but to cancel them out and make you the 100 pips profit you are seeking.

I would recommend looking at the volatility of a pair and develop a strategy to achieve the highest probable outcome.

At the same time when somebody like Gertje comes out with one of his great ideas, never try to emulate his trading, that is what works for him, take his idea and make it your own, massage it to your trading style and you may find something quite rewarding.

April... 25 pip grids, 100 pip TP 1st No losses 4 wins 4th No losses 4 wins 5th No losses 4 wins 6th No losses 4 wins 7th 1 loss 5 wins This is not how I'm trading but just throwing it out there for consideration and manipulation.

Good morning all, depending on where you are of course! What an easy way of trading. My trading is finished for the day thanks to you guys... Got my 100 pips in the bag. I used SAPBTM to close the trades. Traded GJ on M15 using GW. Have a great weekend Cheers Tony

It was such easy money this morning. I decided to also use it as a breakout strategy on GJ with the London Open. Well, that's the afternoon shift over... Cleared 12.76% for today on GJ alone, and SAPBTM look after it for me while I watered the garden. *Don't take any notice of the GA cock-up, that was me interfering before I went to water the garden. One doesn't need to be greedy, only need a little volatility and GW. Have a great weekend everyone... Cheers Tony

Great observation. Sometimes the pair closes the basket before dawn, it is an idea to set the EA-timing so that it starts again at 0800 Global Prime time. Is the basket still running, no new trades will be set. Did the basket already close, a new grid will be sent to put the volatility to use.

Had a bunch of trades close out during the night.. That is a lot of profit for two days work and most of that was just experimenting... EA needs a name change from Griddy Wotsit to Greedy Wotsit because it devours the markets money at some rate.. Result.jpg Also have been playing with ATR grids and TP's related to ATR with some very nice results. Sometimes you can be in and out in a short time.. Had quite a few of these... AUDUSD.jpg Now the sharper amongst you will notice my entry times, this is deliberate to negate the spread widening at midnight. You will also notice that unlike Gertje original trading plan this trade closed out after only 3 grids, this is because I have the grids set at 10% of the ATR and TP set at 50% of the ATR with increased lot sizing. By that I do not mean Martigale I mean I have increased to lot size for the trade to achieve the same result had I been chasing a 100 pip gain. This means on the lower volatility pairs you are likely to be done on 3 grids and 4 grids with the higher volatility pairs. This has the added benefit of the trade likely to have closed by the 0800 GP candle allowing further trades as per Gertje's idea for trades to benefit from the volatility should it exist.
