Tommaso told me something a couple of days ago that I did not realise.
We get around about 30 new registrations every week. 25 of them are scammers, spammers or spambots.
I do two thingies at least once a day: I visit a summary of the moderators' logs and view the 'New' link just towards the top of the main board, to make sure I miss nothing posted by our members. The mod's summary always contains at least 5 registrations deleted by Tommaso. This is typical of what I see with identifying material deleted:

I asked Tommaso about this. In fact, he spends a couple of hours a day catching up on these dimwits. Here is his reply to my query:Truth to tell, you do not have to actually do very much - mod status is more a recognition of ability and outstanding contribution than it is a requirement upon the holder. People fear me because I create a lot of heat when I rant, but the one they should really fear is Tommaso (screen name milanese). I describe Tommaso as, "The Silent Assassin." He has an inbuilt cretin antennae that starts to twitch as soon as a moron starts to post something stupid. I swear he is deleting said moron's registration before the moron has pressed, "Submit".
I could not afford to pay for such a service. We would all have to dig deeper into our pockets were we needing to pay for it.Hi Steve,
a big problem we have actually are spam bots registering, they modify fast their technics, so I must filter them out manually checking them with the https://www.stopforumspam.com/search database, so we avoid this annoying Spam bots than there are some ex-banned members, and some dispostal email servers, that we ban, for avoiding problems. I have changed some settings, that cause that fewer bannings are done automated, but manually, but so we avoid problems for legitim users, that we had in past I prefer it so, it costs maybe two hours a day but it is worth it.
There would be no SHF without Tommaso.
