This has definitely already been pointed out many times. It's also been answered by Bob himself and it's all stored in this thread so I don't know how you missed it. The point is yes the slope repaints but it's the real time value we are after.

Bob didn't have a version of TMA True Slope when he wrote those manuals. Perhaps he will change it in the future or add a little blurb to his document to explain it in a future release. Anyway don't fuss and just trade according to the rules. If you want to backtest then use a True version of the TMA slope.

Mate, I am not trying to start an argument here! I understand it.

But I don't see how I can USE it. If someone can enlighten me, then I'd love to hear it.

My point is that by the time the TMA Slope goes above/below 0.4/-0.4, the trend is half done already!!

And that using normal TMA Slope to demonstrate historical behaviour is wrong.

I'm banging a brick wall here, so will step out and leave you to it.

A bunch of people using it here according to NB's rules and are successful with it... just look and read the threads where actual trading is accomplished... what timeframes are you looking at?
GT3RS wrote:And that using normal TMA Slope to demonstrate historical behaviour is wrong.
As Jemook pointed it out NB did not had the TMATrue version at the point he wrote his documentation and I'm sure he will change it when he has time for it. It is pointless to repeat this statement. This is only one error in his Documentation...there are couple of pages that have valuable and reliable information in it.
If you don't want to troll then please don't do it...

I think this forum has a lot of information regarding NB's system and a couple of derivative strategies that anybody who is willing to read and learn can profit from.
And we all here are willing to help people who have problems understanding some parts...and ask questions that shows us that this person is really trying to understand this strategy and also asks in a way that doesn't offend anyone...and especially not NB or Steve...as we are thankful for all their work and sharing of knowledge.

I have been watching one version of TMA slope that does not repaint and am pleased with its results. The only issue have left with it is the number 4 and 8 need to be changed. I am trying to decide between 3 and 6 or 2 and 5. Even thought going to a one minute chart may make testing faster I prefer to watch the differences on the 4H chart in real time so that takes several weeks. My final edition of 10.2A will have the TMA slopetrue version, just havent decided on the final numbers yet.

@GTR3...

It would pay to go through the entire TMA threads and read what is evolving..the issue of repainting was first brought up by GaryFritz in which he pointed HOW it should Not be used in repaint mode...Bob came and clarified too how he uses TMA Repaint and its basically to support any decisions he uses at pivot levels..Jelmook and Neotrader have evolved it further with Jelmook TMA thread tries to use TMA in basket trades and NeoTrader thread discusses and is creating versions of the No Repaint & MTF versions of the TMA..start with these and everything becomes crystal clear

Great NB..!!..am having a wonderful time with no repaint versions of the TMA slope...especially in observing how it filters out a large number of capital and time wasting sideways movement that are always in fx before breakouts

That is great news... ;)

My new indicators also have the option that you can set/change the levels as you like. And with the Multi timeframe option you would also be able to check all timeframes you like at once...I already send you a PM with the link to the New TMATrue SlopeHisto MTF version.

Bob, you decide whatever levels make sense for your system... but the "non-repainting" versions of TMA slope should not require different 4/8/etc numbers just because you switched indicators. The non-repainters have different numbers on historic bars because the repainters change their values in history, but the realtime bar has the SAME values in repainter and non-repainter. If 4/8 worked for the repainting indi in realtime, the same values should work for the non-repainter in realtime.

Gary you maybe right but I am testing live just to make sure. The numbers on the far right are different so that has some effect for example I am staring at the nzd/chf. At 8 the move was done but at 6 you would have caught it. At 5 you placed your self in perfect position to catch the run. I will do my studies on this. :)
