Post subject:  Hyperactive order modification

Hi Steve,

Using the new version 2p since today, and have noticed something peculiar. There was a range trade open, for which I will post the settings below. Upon getting closer to its take profit value, the TP on the trade was being changed up to every/multiple times per second. It did this flip-flop between 2 values that are actually just a few pips apart until I closed the trade manually, to avoid GP to lock the account. Did not see this behavior in the beginning that the trade was opened, only as it drew closer to its TP.

Here are some extracts from the log (note that I closed the trade by hand, hence the invalid ticket/order errors):

I am not using BE or jumping/trailing stops, but I am using an ATR set TP. This issue did not surface before using version 2p, and the version I had on before was 2i.
Could this be a combination of settings issue, or would it be something you recognize as new/changed, given you mentioned "You do not need this update if 2o has been sending the correct tp's with your pending trades." :?

Let me know if you need more info and I'd be happy to make it available. :)

As always, thanks a lot for your continuous efforts

If there are multiple open trades when the Equity reaches the desired level then sure there will be some losing trades amongst the basket of trades but it doesn't mean that the account balance does not increase......for example......let's say that you have a $10k account and you are looking for a $200 increase on the account for the day's trading. You start HGB and it opens trades and starts to bank profits from closed trades that have reached their target. The account reaches $200 of banked profits...great....but your floating DD is -$75 so if you closed all trades now you would have banked only $125 instead of the desired $200. With new trades opening all the time and other trades reaching TP the Equity amount is fluctuating constantly....sometimes it will change too fast for us to manually hit the close all trades button to lock in the $200 that we are looking for. That is why it seems to be a much more suitable job for an EA.
Once the EA sees that the Equity level has increased by $200 it will shut everything down......amongst those trades shut down some will be losing trades sure but also some will be profitable trades that just hadn't reached their TP yet.
I trust an EA to do that particular job far better than I could do it manually .....hope that explains what i have in mind a bit better ?? :)
Cheers
Kimmy, Google this: "Equity Manager for Martingale Lover V2"

I think it will do what you are looking for. It is very flexible and can close trades based on equity percent or fixed value. It also has a trailing equity stoploss and other stuff.

I hope this helps.

Yes, it will be the ATR thingy. In complicated coding such as that within HGB, a change here often creates an unforseen problem there. I will find a work around for this later.

Yes sure and indeed taking equity (open trade balances) into account on an automated basket close makes sense.

I think the closing routine on the dashboard actually does this - but not 100% sure.

Best of luck

Brilliant Bogie....thanks so much....it is a .mq4 file which is what Steve needs to make his magic ...the one that i had found was only in .exe
Many thanks

Hi Steve I have a .mq4 file of another Equity Trade manager that does the same thing as the one i posted about earlier......would this one be suitable for you to do your magic matchmaking between it and HGB ....so that HGB will allow the Equity Manager to have the last word and not keep trying to place new trades ?
Humongous thanks !

Before asking Steve to reinvent the wheel I strongly suggest you check out the dashboard I suggested earlier as I am almost positive this is already available here: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =89&t=4046

A little off topic, but it has been discussed here recently. More fallout from the SNB action. I got this one today so scratch another possibility for off shore brokers for USA citizens.

'tis fine by me. I consider discussing brokers we can trade with to be a legitimate subject for discussion in any thread.
