Post subject:  How is sto7 calculated

Gertje » Tue Apr 08, 2014 7:26 pm wrote:Hi Tommaso,

Is it possible to explain shortly how the sto7 is calculated?
I wonder what keeps it at 5 instead of dropping to 0/ staying at 95 instead of climbing to 100.

Tnx!
Here you find some explains how the Empty4 stoch calculates..

For example, I just got a nice sell signal on S&P500 on H1. The Sto7 was crossing 90 and it looked ready to go... UNTIL I changed time frames and I saw that the H4 Sto7 was moving UP and was just crossing 30, so it had a lot to move on the upside. Don´t get me wrong... I´m not lazy and before I enter an H1 trade I will always check H4 and scope out the Sto7, BUT, wouldn´t it be great to have a Red or Green arrow with a number next to it so from the H1 screen you can tell if the H4 Sto7 is going up or down and what value it has right now. Just an idea... If you don´t like it, proceed to ignore my lament. :hi:
Even better, a little rectangular dashboard like the one in the Genesis system, where you get red or green small lights in M15, H1, H4 and D1. Ideally with the numerical value underneath also, but the lights by themselves would be much better than nothing...
Let me think about this.. maybe I will find something matching your idea..

Cheers :)

Al, look at this one I made it shows you the H4 Stoch value and changes the color Gold for neutral, red for >70 and green for < 30
I know it is no dahboard but maybe it matches a little bit what you asked..

Too I attach it in the first post as update for the 10.9 Stoch

Cheers :)

Tommaso
This certainly helps a lot, but it would be great to know if the H4 is rising or falling. If it is rising, I would not short in the lower time frames. If it is falling, I would not go long in lower time frames. That is why it is important to know. Still, what you have done is very helpful for now.

Post subject:  Conflicting Alerts

Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem but in case it's an issue that I haven't caused myself I thought I'd share it.

I've been watching 10.7 today as the wHT Stoch settles and I've had a few conflicting signals. Here's an example of GBPCHF. Roughly half an hour before the close of the penultimate candle in the screen shot I got a buy and a sell signal. They are from different triggers so that in itself isn't a major issue but in addition I don't see the TL break that one of them is indicating. The Sto7 signal looks fine but price didn't come close the upper TL. The candle at the time of the signal is the green doji one in from the last candle and this was supposed to have broken the TL above - which it hasn't.

Not sure if anyone has seen this or if it's an issue to worry about (I know this thread is an endless stream of work for Tommaso but I wanted to flag it for info.)

Here's the alert and the screen grab taken later as I wasn't at my pc when the alert went off.

Yes, this can happen, and that is a good exampel that you always must valutate very well the chart situation before entering a trade, in such sitiations it is always better to do nothing..
As I wrote before, we will look after this trading week, how we can do some improvements to the alert sytem, maybe an option would be to integrate the TL in the Stoch indicator as an alert verification option..

Cheers :)

Save as template with name ' 0 xxx' and use attached script.
Gertje,
I'm an Empty4 noob (my background is with Amibroker). Can you help with more explicit instructions on running this script. The template I want to apply to all charts appears as #14 in the list (right click Template). I set templateIndex to 14, hit OK, nothing happens. Am I doing it right ??

Also, do you know of a script that will change all open charts to a specified time frame? I'm running build 625 under Cowboy IBFX Australia.

Many thanks
