This thread is about developing HGB'nG and I will not allow it to be hijacked by other matters. Those of you who do not understand the basics have http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =87&t=3979

I have opened a new thread for those of you experiencing technical difficulties to discuss them and hopefully find solutions: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =87&t=4570

I am going to delete posts here about technical problems and will continue to do so in the future.

After lurking here for a few months trying to absorb the wealth of priceless info on this site, I'd like to start my first post by expressing my sincere gratitude to Steve for all the hard work he's put into developing this EA. After a break from trading for a year or so (due to getting totally hammered in the CHF massacre), this is the first EA that's got me really excited about trading again.

I'm finding the entries fantastic but am still trying to find settings for the best exits (currently trying MPTM - another fantastic tool, thanks Steve!)

I've just one slight query, since upgrading from version 0i to 0l, the PercentRisk setting doesn't appear to be working for me, with the static lot size always being used. Can someone confirm this is just me being yet another "dimwit" that's probably got some other mutually exclusive setting enabled or if a bug has crept into the code (which I did attempt to have a look at myself)?

Many thanks!

Doh, sorry looks like I'm a dimwit after all. Didn't have any initial stop loss configured as I was letting MPTM set it. I'm guessing it's pretty difficult to calculate a percent risk without one. Sincerest apologies!

Hi all, here is the setfile I use for those asking via pm
I also use build 950
Here is my mfxb link but filter it to magic 666 to see the trades by HGB https://www.myfxbook.com/members/patmon ... lr/1330288

Good job bud! 29% already, wow! :hi:

I haven't been posting any updates because I've been experimenting with some high risk trading to push the limits of this ea and also switched to waves triggers instead of trend and the results have been at break even. It wins big one day and loses it all the next. It's not the logic of the ea that's causing the loses. It's because the ea kept stopping overnight. So I have started a fresh test with nothing but the ea on the chart to see if it can keep itself running with the unnecessary resources being eaten up by other indicators. Don't really need them but they give me sense of security visually.

I'll keep you guys up to date!

I am testing 4 varieties of HGB on just 5 charts each on my brand new machine, plus demos for two varieties of PPoS and one for BAS. I was seeing cpu spikes up to 99%, so I took all the instances of HGI off the charts. Cpu is now usually around the late teens to early 20's. Worth bearing in mind when you guys set up your demos.

I also suggest that anyone trading HGI manually live or trading HGB'nG live make that the only thing the computer is called on to do.

This seems to have solved my problem! thanks Steve. the processor is pretty steady at 9% to 12%.

cyberevil » Tue Jan 05, 2016 9:06 am wrote:Basically you want the HGI to buy at the market price when you get buy signal and sell vise versa as well. I understand, but remember that buy can turn into sell and the gap is designed to protects us from that and takes opposite position. Which in long term will give you a small losses and larger gains.

If you're willing to risk that aspect of the ea and test it manually and convince Steve to add another variable that perhaps will give you the ability to turn on at buy/sell at market price. All the power to you.

Did you test this idea manually? do you feel this happens more than 50% of the time a trade is triggered?

krzysiekqq2 » January 4th, 2016, 12:22 pm wrote:Hi Cyberevil,

Thanks for the interest. Let me be a bit more discriptive on Long HGI signal example attached. With 30 pips grid when 1st oposite Sell Open is executed we have 60 pips gap to recover between 1 st Buy Stop and 1st Sell Stop. If trade reach 2nd Sell Stop, then there is 90 pips. What I recommend is to lower a gap to 30 pips by opening Buy Stop 4 when 1st Sell Stop is trigerred 30 pips above this level followed by Buy Stop 5 and Buy Stop 6 when Sell Stop 5 and 6 are reached. Thus, in worst case, there will be 3 open Sell Trades and 6 Buy Stops in HGI direction 30 pips up from last opened Sell position.

Does it make any sense?
The following may help with clarification (if I understand correctly)...
The request is about having opposite side stop orders trail when a stop order is activated.
For example when a buy stop activates then the sell stop order(s) would be moved up so that the closest would be placed the grid gap amount below the buy order fill price.
The next sell stop order (if any) would be gap amount below again and so on according to the grid size in effect.

The current price pattern is asymmetric. i,e, when a buy stop order fills then the gap to the first sell stop is now 2*gap. So when the price moves in the wrong direction from the buy order price has to move 2*gap before the closest sell stop will fill. This increases the loss from the buy order versus having the sell stop kick in at 1*gap from the fill price.

So in summary, the suggestion is to have the EA move opposite side sell stop order(s) to start at gap*1 from an order fill price and reduce the loss potential from a price reversal from that most recent order fill.

Clear as mud?
