Steve/Shelley,

I just witnessed something last night that may or may not be as intended. I would appreciate your input, and maybe there is already a way to toggle this "function" on or off... Anyway, here is the scenario:

GBPNZD Sell triggered: Reaches 35 pips profit and half the position is liquidated. The other half goes backward and closes out at BE+2..... FANTASTIC! (Mind, I am trading BASA on daily chart.)

HOWEVER --

Condition is still valid or becomes valid once again intra-bar (daily bar), and so, the same trade is taken at some point later. This trade however goes straight backward and suffers a considerable loss (the entire position hit SL). Shelley, is this how you would trade manually (albeit on the 1D charts)? Personally, I would like to see a one trade per bar limit, or maybe that already exists? Steve, I'm sure BASA was just doing as she has been asked to, and that's terrific... might there be an easy "feature" implemented whereby I can insist that BASA not trade more than once during a given bar?

Thank you in advance... this is a phenomenal EA and I must congratulate you both.

yes it is already possible just set the input MinMinutesBetweenTrades to 1440 ..

John, BASA only ever takes 1 trade per bar!
In the 9 months that I have been trading BASA I have never seen it take 2 trades in the 1 bar.
My GBPNZD trade moved up and half trade closed, trade reversed and closed at BE. No new gbpnzd trade opened for me.

So far as I can recall, there is no code in BASA to prevent multiple trades per candle. I coded BASA in accordance with Shelley's requirements as detailed in post 1 and so multiple trades were highly unlikely. As those of us who tried it found, trading a ltf failed.

Trading a htf might bring with it different problems. Just bear in mind that BASA is coded as originally intended. You will have to experiment to see if different time frames will work. They failed on the initially promising H1 that a number of us mistakenly experimented with.

To be honest, it never ceases to amaze me when traders attempt to use an ea designed this way in that way instead.

And no, I will not make adaptations to BASA just because someone happens to pass by with a whim that requires a change to the code. Trade your adaptations manually and successfully, and I will take some notice. Until then, assume the originator of the trading method actually knows what she is talking about.

No worries, Steve...

It makes sense that, even if not coded to prevent it, multiple trades have probably never occurred in the same bar on ltfs due to the trades likely remaining open for more than one bar... obviously on the daily, that may or may not be the case. Regardless, Tammaso has provided a nice band-aid that I will use in the interim. Thanks for the reply, Steve...
