Hi intcust, how did you 'choose trades carefully'? Did you apply different rules?!

I also tried to choose carefully and entering on some pullback, but that kept me out of several trades that would have been good. I also didn't take a couple as it seemed they were too far advanced already.

Great results by others this week! :clap:

Seems to me this is currently working better with no discretion applied at all!!!
The only problem that remains is what to do with trades such as A/N. My diagnostics tell me it could turn back, at least for a retrace! However everything about the market currently seems to be contrary to my normal analysis!! :shock:

BTW intcust, did you see my previous answer to your question that the settings for the crossover indi, that are 1 and 20 not 3 and 8? This is per John's settings and although Shelley doesn't say so she is using the same.

The EA banked 404 pips this week :party: with 17 trades currently open the floating pip count is +1017 even with that pesky AUDNZD flip which will get closed on Monday when the EA looks at the weekly trends.
Here's the EA with the option of choosing weekly or daily trend change for trade closure, daily might save some pips but also risk cutting some winners early, even that AUDNZD sell would still be open as it stands now with the daily 3ma under the 8ma, maybe a hard stop of 100 would be better but then news could knock a trade out early :arrrg: just thinking out loud.

I set it up mid-week but I haven't had the chance to look at it much yet but thanks for sharing it. One thought I did have though was that it opens trades at the end of the day (obviously!) BUT it would be much better if it could open them say 15 minutes later simply because spread widen, sometime quite a bit, with every broker around NYC close/rollover. Not sure if this is easily doable?

When I have had a chance to look at a week or 2's trades I will report back with any ideas/comments.

great results and many thanks for the upload zader, early days for the EA running about two days with the weekly trend version (runnning high risk lots) but so far so good :good:

will keep the weekly trend option as in my experience letting winners run tends to gain more pips in trend trading , we'll see

well we have had some strong trend moves recently in the market as well which have helped, so lets see how it fares over the coming period. have a good feeling about this one though as its higher time frame.

On entry I used naked trading. Mainly waiting for a load up and then taking it near the bottom or top of the load up. So when everyone else is jumping on long I am shorting type of thing. I used the temp. that Shelly provided for the arrows. I think the repaint will be problem. The idea that the EA will close it when the next week arrives is one answer. This time it is less than 200 pips right now so compared to the rest it is not bad. I did not take that trade in my trades because everyone was opposite of my arrow which had already rolled back. I was really trying to get a feel for the draw down. Which was very little. My take so far is that the system works very well for very little time. The results are great. The issues are as I see it
1. what to do if trade never makes the 100 pip plus because we open with no stop.
2. what to do about the repaint of the arrows (including when to close a trade that taken before repaint)

Now with that said don't fix what is not broken. The issues I listed are minor and the winners wipe them out so far. I am only mentioning these things hoping someone will come up with a good answer with out complicating the system. I think over 20% a month with small lots (which I support) is huge with only a couple of min. a day required. SO DON'T FIX WHAT IS NOT BROKEN

I don't really see the repaint as an issue as I'm using the crossover histo and that retains the red bar so you can easily see where a cross has happened even after it crosses back again.
The problem is as you say what to do when we get a cross in one direction and then it goes straight back in the other direction. This could happen back and forth several weeks in a row when we get to a point of ranging around the ma's. Price does often range when ma's are together. We are yet to encounter this.

If other pairs are trending freely and in profit then the losses are minimal. Knowing what tactic to use to close those with less loss is the next hurdle.

With the new arrow indi that Dave has posted I can't seem to get the change of size for the arrows to hold. I don't like the large arrows! Change it back to '1' and it reverts to '3' as soon as you change the timeframe of the chart! I tried changing in the code but it didn't like that wouldn't work at all then! I changed the code for the previous indi and it was happy!

I also find it a bit odd that I provided an indicator that doesn't repaint (as there is no reason once a week is over that it should) but no-one seems to be using it and people are still concerned about repainting arrows.
