The version I posted yesterday is now V 1e in post 1. Offsetting appears to work correctly and netted me 257 pips as soon as I loaded it onto my live Global Prime trading account. No need to re-download; the only difference between 1e and yesterday's version is the version display. I have also updated the user guide.

I have a suggestion for someone to try based on this observation: when a complicated, unmanaged position builds up and I load up a managed version of CP, there is huge profitability as offsetting/jumping stops etc close down trades. Try this someone:
  • create two set files:
    • one where CP only trades. No breakeven, basket take profit, offsetting etc.
    • a second with all the management features enabled.
  • load CP with the first set file and allow a complicated position to develop.
  • load the management set file,, allow CP to do her thingies and see if this is more profitable than trading CP as we have been doing.
Somebody with spare capacity on their vps might care to run a fully managed demo at the same time as the experimental one, for comparison.

Coders, the offsetting code was originally intended only for one purpose. Here it has to serve two: offsetting a balanced position; offsetting an unbalanced one. I have declared some temporary storage variables so that inputs for both offsetting features do not get over written, starting around about line 4818:

My previous post gave me an idea. The attached experimental version has a new input at the bottom of the 'General Inputs' section - TradesOpenBeforeManagementKicksIn.

CP should not call any of the management features until there are at least TradesOpenBeforeManagementKicksIn trades open. Play with it if you like the idea.

What could be seen as an otherwise boring day exploded into something. :smile: I am testing only GBPJPY and GBPCAD. The experimental version that Steve posted holds promise and maybe my creativity will kickstart again. Who knows :arrrg: Todays results simply brilliant.

MInd, I was beginning to wonder if the blasted GJ would ever move again until a couple of hours ago. :arrrg:

Maybe we simply have to be like theatre/film/concert audiences and accept that we have to patiently wait for entertainment.

Thanks for this EA, I've been demoing it for a few days - looks very promising. Thanks for taking the time to code it.

I've been thinking about how to alleviate the 'leaky toilet' situation, where the market moves further and further away from a losing position until ultimately hitting the 200 stop loss. Obviously the new management features will help with this, however I'm wondering if a 'rinse and repeat' situation would also help?

I know the updates to the latest versions have 'nuclear option' on margin level as a safety feature. Could this be reversed to a 'nuclear option' on equity increase? (balance (banked trades) + open positions). I am often in a situation where banked small profits are a higher value than current open trades. It may be worth, at a user defined equity value, closing all trades and pending orders and starting the whole process fresh.

This would mean you'd be taking profits as soon as they become available and you would close losing positions which are getting further away from the market hopefully before hitting SL.

Just thinking out loud really.

Ha! You are GridMaster sort of guy. :D I had similar idea with Awesome BW version. But the developers seems to busy for this. Eventually i took GridMaster, put the same magic number from EA. Does the job.
