Although this indy is the best I found until now, I think asking it to predict such a movement is too much! In fact, I am pretty sure that the trend arrows showed up only AFTER the move.

If someone was in CHF trades please chime in and let us know if the trend arrows were there before the move and if you have trades on the wrong side just before the move. I think the overall CHF trend was down before this.

I had just reset my HGB (Holy Graily Bob) EA earlier that day 5:00pm EST. It placed several orders and pendings for CHF pairs in the right direction. I was sleeping when the event happened so cannot say if arrows appeared early enough for manual trading to catch it, but the EA certainly did. I was pleasantly supprised when I woke up that morning. Account up 40%.

Just dusting myself are discovering the demise of Alpari. Whilst awaiting to hear the news from the FCA regarding recovery possibilities (not holding my breath!), just wondering what other brokers are recommended by any of you.

Yes, I have registered with Global Prime and will be going demo with them. I had been with Alpari a year or so before coming across this forum. I need to read the GP thread and have a look at all the options for deposit/withdrawal and fees etc.....but either way I know they come well recommended here.

I promised to update when I doubled my account again - first doubling was 2/12/2014 to 19/12/2014. Last night I doubled my account again - not possible to count trading days during the holiday period.

With a small account, the key for me is to trade a few pairs and use a very small margin. At the weekend, looking at fundamentals, I choose which pairs I will trade in the next week. At the moment I am focusing on CAD (the first pair with an HGI signal), EURUSD and Gold. Luckily that kept me out of CHF although I did happen to be watching the screen when it happened - totally impossible to trade.

I scale in once the first pair has moved into profit on a wavy or trend signal and will also open a new pair if there is an HGI signal and the first trade is in profit. Follow this discipline throughout the week so that I never have a large exposure. I am trading Gold very carefully, using all time frames and paying especial attention to the times of the London fix. Definitely need to learn how HGI works on gold. I am managing trades with trailing SL, reducing as they move further into profit.

Will update again IF (and when achieve) next doubling milestone. 8-)

Statement: “The scenario of such shock had been anticipated four months in advance as shown in our news published on 3rd of October 2014: “Due to the possibility of a break of the 1.2000 floor in EUR/CHF which may see significant price gaps and cause negative equity on client accounts, Dukascopy Bank is forced to implement a maximum leverage for EURCHF exposures of 1:10 as of 12 October 2014″

Please have a close look at the attached charts. I know they are retrospective but I don't think that they would change that much in real time.
Every single CHF related pair, from the M5 to the H4, gave a 'heads-up' of a Trend change - ahead of time.

Now, how brilliant is that??

Cheers
Hi Aussiedoc,

I'm sorry to pour cold water on you while you are so excited. I think it is important for us to clear up some misconception. As Bob always said, all indicators will fail in a sudden news event ! There is no exception, even HGI in this CHF event.

I have attached two CHFJPY charts which were taken by Steve's HGB EA when the trade was executed.
The first chart is after the event and refreshing the indicator. Simply looking at it, you want say just what you have said:

"Every single CHF related pair, from the M5 to the H4, gave a 'heads-up' of a Trend change - ahead of time.
Now, how brilliant is that??"

Then please look at the second chart which was taken when the trade was closed by the EA soon after the event. You could see that the indicator had given a big Trend Sell right before the big rise. Therefore your statement : "I know they are retrospective but I don't think that they would change that much in real time " may not be correct, particularly when the market is very volatile.

I hope this clear up the situation.

There is no such thing as an indicator that can predict a sudden news story. If it got it right you were lucky, just as it could have been wrong. Its a basic fundamental change from a well held position of SNB. Obviously they realized they couldnt keep supporting the Euro to keep the CHF down. With big moves like that the indis dont mean much until price settles and the indis get a chance to redo their math to the new range of the currency. I will put the CHF back on my screens again and watch what happens next but they wouldnt be doing this if they thought the Euro was going up.
