Yep, but i trust more when/if i see all withdraws and operation still works smooth as usual. "Negative balance" are just numbers on a file. If i would have scamming intentions and i would have the idea to hide insolvency or problems, zeroing that digits would be the very first thing i would do. Of course the "affair" about the dirty pig job the SNB has done has involved many brokers, FSA, other agencies and possibly also govermnents, that will do some other ruling (well....hoping not like the FIFO and no hedging rules for U.S. .. really craps for retail traders!)...so it won't be so simple to "mask" money issues by their side (also, some kind of checking on brokers about their solvency status, will be done in the near future, cause these events, i believe). Anyway...hoping for the best, but being prepared for the worst. |

They are BIG LIARS. They claim that they are not market makers and do not take the other side of the trades. This shows that they have not offset the clients trades and kept it in house. |

Hi Everyone, I'm a bit of a newb so excuse my lack of knowledge. If you were running close to your margin on a fxcm account wouldn't the lack of margin just stop you out. How could you then generate a negative equity balance with fxcm. Thanks in advance. |

Alpari UK In a surprise, brazen move, FXCM - just out of its own trouble, has emerged as a potential savior for Alpari UK. It now seems the American firm asked for the $300 million Leucadia National bailout so it can expand. - FXCM itself went into the red this Friday with $225 million in client losses due to CHF exposure and had to turn to an outside firm to raise funds. It now seems the American firm asked for the $300 million Leucadia National bailout so it can not only recover but also expand. This move can be seen as a brilliant play by Drew Niv, showing both traders and investors his firm is not only still in business but intends to use this time to aggressively expand. Due to the sensitive nature of such negotiations Alpari UK and FXCM have yet to confirm the report But....Do we honestly believe that FCA would approve a merger between two troubled and bankrupt companies? - |

Look at the last two sentences in the quote you used in your post and you have your answer. A good bookmaker will lay off large bets with another party and a Forex market maker is no different. A broker who is not a market maker will merely "broker" a trade with another party or parties. Since the great majority of traders lose money on their trades many brokers feel that they can make more money by taking the opposite side of the trade with their client in addition to the spread or commission. When an unexpected event (Black Swan) occurs it quite often does serious damage to their "backside". Hope this helps. Roger These questions and answers really belong in the "Basic Questions" thread since they have nothing directly to do with HGI. Hopefully an administrator will move them. |
