Blazej,

Use this and will help you to play around with lot size and pip values.
This is what I use to determine the pip step and profit levels.

Hi Steve - having fun with this EA :)

There seems to be an issue with the MaxPairsAllowed parameter - see attached

I had a look at the code but beyond seeing it was an issue with setting NoOfPairsTrading I was a little lost

(EDIT: there were around 10 pairs trading on this account at the time of the attached SS)

Latest update in post 1. The 'issue' reported by spotdespot had a simple cause - the code was bollocks.

Fixed, I think.

Frank
Thanks for all your help in this thread Frank - has made me think a lot about the gap size and the pip TP target (in relation to the gap size). I am not 100% sure about the choice of lot size (and therefore $ profit target) but really I guess it is a factor of account size and NoOfTrades - at the moment I am just erring on the cautious side. If I go live with this I will need to do the math!

Re. your thoughts above - I am not sure the 100+ pips daily movement is that important a criteria. What seems more important is that the pair is trending AND that the movement isn't too volatile. If we are just using ADR/5 or ATR/5 as a starting point for the gap size then the gap & therefore pip TP would be less and the lot size bigger for the same $ gain? Make sense?

Cheers,
Dave.

In response to crims in US that allow "hedging" ILQ, FXDD and I believe ATC have work arounds of stupid US regs. ;)

Great. Link to this post added in post 1.

I expect to see more and more crims getting around these ludicrous restrictions as they become more imaginative about doing so. Can't really run a criminalage without punters, and adhering to the restrictions must make trading nigh on impossible.

I can confirm that ATC does allow hedging as that is where I have one of my live accounts. If you are curious to know about how they can do this? Well, basically, they separate Empty4 from the back office accounting/clearing or something to that effect and so... They simply "clean" everything up on the back end... :)

Hello Nubika,

How does the Gertje version you're using closes baskets when you get a highly ranging market? With the balance you're mentioning (around 2000 USD), lotsizes (0.3) and NoOfTrades your using (30), in a wildly ranging market you would surely get margin called once you get to enough positions opened! (your maximum positions would be 60! 30 buy+30 sells! @ 0.30 lots that's way too much for 2000 usd accounts to handle!)

I hope you can shed some light on this! Thanks!

My concern too, I have seen margin blown in backtesting (OK, I know) so I think there is a balancing act between lot sizes, steps and TPs. I still think this EA can work with effective MM but there needs to be some form of GEC/shirt protection for when it all goes wrong.
