I am lucky. I am running my live account on the little lappy I recently replaced with my brand-spanking new machine, so it is running 840. I monitor the trades on the big screen though, so I can see the numbers. :oops:

Yes, the live instances do freeze occasionally so I removed HGI from the charts and this has helped.

I think I will strip out the 'usual Bob stuff' - CSS etc to see if that helps. Iw will reduce the file size considerably.. I only used the Bob stuff shell so that people could experiment if they wanted to, and if they are then no one is saying. I will do the input enforcement stuff first to give people time to scream, "NOOOOOOOOOOO. LEAVE IT IN." just in case.

V 1o is in post 1. I have not removed the 'Bob stuff' yet. I have added code to enforce values for certain variables if we are using hedging. I also noticed and fixed a bloop that left orphaned stop orders if an opposite direction semafor closes the market trades.

More to the point is the idea that this position gave me:

The yellow blob looks wrong but I added temporary code to kid the ea that there was a low semafor on the previous candle, so he obediently closed the market sells, deleted the orphaned pendings, then sent a fresh batch of sell stops.

Now there is a huge gap between the market and those market buys. OK, so my original idea was to close them if the market retraced upwards for a half-way decent number of pips - leaving us in profit over the whole exercise that started with 5 buy stops and 5 sell stops.

The idea I had a few minutes ago was this: populate the gap with another grid of buy stop trades. Now the chart looks like this:

If the market does now rise then we will be well placed to exit the buy position at a profit earlier - maybe at breakeven so we can regard all those lovely sell pips as pure profit.

It could be all that happens is we get left with a mess. It is the work of seconds to make more of these features user options but this is early days.Let's just play with it and see where the ride takes us.

Here is how the GJ worked out:

One of the sell stops triggered before the market rose to fill the buy stops. The hedged position reached my target of +30 and closed.

So, from the beginning:
  • HGB'nG picked up a signal (cannot remember which) and sent a grid of 5 buys stops and 5 sell stops.
  • Some of the buy stops triggered, then the market plunged and triggered the sell stops. The hedged position never reached my 30 pip tp.
  • A semafor low triggered a close of the successful sell trades and the bot sent a fresh grid of 5 buy and sell stops.
  • One sell stop filled, then the market rocketed upwards, filling several of the buy stops.
  • The open buys overwhelmed the single market sell even though the initial buy trades were still losers, and the position closed at +30 pips.
Overall result: +625 pips.

Last week I restarted my test on H4 as I felt D1 (unhedged) was becoming a slow death of a thousand cuts. It looks like you are making more progress using just the Stop Orders so I am following with interest and like Steve's idea of repopulating the grid.

Is anyone else testing this with Stop and Limit orders or just me?

Great.. I'd seen the post and checked your myfxbook and seeing some buy and sell trades on each pair assumed you were hedging... you did say to filter by magic number so my bad. I've sent you a PM about your use of ALR. Nice to see the low drawdown - well done.

Here is the result of my live trading stop and limit orders last week:

He caught that lovely sterling move earlier in the week then gradually gave the profits back during the remainder. I shall try again next week.

Using stop orders only and taking advantage of the latest additions:

The code appears to be working as required, but I will test for another week before making it the live trading version in post 1.

That mahoosive GJ profit came about when:
  • A bunch of buy stops triggered.
  • The market reversed and a bunch of sell stops triggered.
  • The market reversed again, there was a semafor low signal and the successful sells were closed. The bot sent a new grid of buy/sell stops.
  • One sell stop filled, then the market reversed and filled a bunch of buy trades. This became a new hedged position, and it closed at my target for hedged baskets of 30 pips.
On the face of it, this is as near to perfectly safe trading as we can get, but I want to see a few more cycles. Here is what I want to see. Taking the above scenario, but this time:
  • Market continues to fall, filling a bunch of sell stops. They are closed following another low semafor signal, so the bot sends a fresh grid of buy/sell stops.
  • Market falls again, filling the sell stops that close following yet another semafor low.
That original bunch of sells is now a hell of a lot of pips in the hole. Have the banked profits on the way down wiped out the losses of the original buys, or does one of Bob's 'leaky toilet' markets destroy everything?

Emblazon this upon your souls folks: never trade with funds you cannot afford to lose. I might have mentioned this before?
