I modified the Jump EA to show a small yellow line over the current bar. This is the next target for a SL 'jump'.

My Jump EA settings are InitialStoploss = 21, JumpIncrement = 7, NegativeIncrement = 7, PositiveIncrement = 8. Trades have more room to breathe this way.

Maybe we should consider implementing the 10.2 volatility groups into the jump EA to apply different jumps to the groups.

Any thoughts?

Paul

Baluda (Paul)

What criteria were you using to select GMT+2, as default, for the GMT Offset for your dashboard, the DWMP 1.08 indi and your DP or DO EA? I use Cowboy IBFX as a broker and their GMT Offset is 0. It has been stated on other threads that attempting to manipulate the GMT Offset to something else besides your broker's could produce unexpected results.

About GMT settings

My newest indicators:
  • DWMP for 10.3 v1.0.8,
  • MultiTenPointThree v1.1.1 and
  • Bob's Biggest Balls Ever, v1.0 (Steve's newest EA, but based on my indi's)
support shifting the day change to an hour of your choice. Why do we want this?
  1. Different b*rokers start their trading days at different hours. (ie Cowboy IBFX at GMT+0, FXOpen at GMT+2.)
  2. This leads to different daily pivots (DP) and daily open (DO).
  3. Popular trading systems like Bob's 10.3 use DP and DO extensively.
  4. When different b*rokers have different DP and DO's we can not compare trading choices.
  5. Therefore we need to synchronize the trading days of our b*rokers.
The indicators and EA mentioned earlier all shift the day change to GMT+2. Why GMT+2?

Because GMT+2 is the exact time when the Australian market opens. GMT+2 is the hour when every 24 hour trading day starts, every monday through friday. Moreover it is the time the trading week starts on monday and it is the time the trading week ends on friday.

For the time and time zone challenged among us, GMT+2 is the same time as New York close.

Happy GMT+2 trading!

Hello Paul,

Thanks for you explanation!

I question the decision to go with GMT+2 however. Trading hours for different sessions, as defined at http://www.babypips.com show Sydney opening at different times during summer and winter seasons. New York session is GMT-5, which means that it opens 5 hours later than London which is GMT+0. I need to do a little more research regarding this issue.

Hello Paul,

A second read of your quoted reply raises a couple more questions.

First, "...b*rokers start their trading days at different hours. (ie Cowboy IBFX at GMT+0, FXopen at GMT+2.)..." Actually GMT Offset serves as the time that the b*rokers servers use. It's the number of hours before or after GMT. GMT+0 means that Cowboy IBFX's servers use GMT time, irregardless of their physical location.

Secondly, "...we need to synchronize the trading days of our b*rokers..." Since Forex is not a centrally-controlled market (like Stock/Commodities), I doubt if we will every be able to synchronize their trading days or their prices. Since DO and DP are calculated from either previous or current prices, and there is no guarantee that OHLC for any one b*roker matches that of another b*roker, I think that it's highly improbable that we will every see identical DO's and DP's between b*rokers. They will be similiar but not identical.

Nanningbob (Bob) has put far too much effort and work into his systems for this can of worms to be allowed to be opened. Again, these are my personal thoughts on the subject.

-Frank

P.S. I did check again with http://www.babypips.com. There were a couple of typographical errors between the tables I saw 6 months ago and what I saw today, but essentually they were the same.

P.P.S. I tried using DWMP 1.08 yesterday, with GMT+2. The results were disasterious, however, I couldn't tell if it was from the DO/DP calculations or the GMT Offset.

For me I have change Baluda's offset because I live in a country that does not have daylight savings time. I dont mind the discussion about the topic. Baluda's offset does not bog down my computer so I can play with this thing.

Yesterday 2 big news stories really moved the market. China's upbeat unexpected Economic news and the USA's bigger than expected unemployment figures. I have really noticed this week that if you set your trades around news times you would do very well and either hit your SL quickly or go into profit quickly. When I trade that is all one can really ask. You set your trade and then it does something. So I am going to look more and more at setting some of my trades around news stories and see if I can catch things better. Just some thoughts.

On version .08 I am still getting faulty DO readings. So the bars on the chart do not match my the bar colors on my chart. Especially the 10.3 readings.
