Guys, I am blown away by what I read here. I have mostly been away from my computer yesterday and today, and so had no idea this was going on.

I am humbled by what has gone on whilst I was away. Sgt.Forex, you are the all-time star of all-time stars.

Akib, I have used my power as a pca to make a small edit right at the end of your first post. I echo others; please use extra funds to ease your mum's and your own lives in coming days. Especially remember this; money from those of us in the rich countries can buy much more in poorer countries like Bangladesh than it can in our own. Keep the money with a clear conscience, ok?

Here is hoping for your mum's operation. All our thoughts are with you.

in my opinion, you should take the money, you gonna need it. There are always unforseen things relating to operations.

The other thing i can think of if you dont feel you deserve the money, pass them on. You can give them to homeless shelters, or my pet cause, animal shelters.

And please, don't feel like you owe us anything, we are all just happy to help, humans to humans.

Sorry to hear about your mom.

My mom died of lung cancer at the age of 42 in 1981 and still today I wonder if I did enough. What still haunts me today is the don't care attitude the doctors had.

Here are some good and very cheap alternative treatments. I just wonder if I knew about these and used it in conjunction with the treatment she received. Maybe she would have still been with us today. I don't know?

Hi All,
so i got up and had a good night :-)
First of all, thank you for the well wishes, but i really didn`t help just for getting them.

Yesterday:
I was sitting at the bureau and had all my work done for this week. Just sitting and thinking about the time until i can go home without making minus hours for the day...
I was bored and began to read some news and storys. I came to Steves forum and saw the personal messages and this thread.
The combination of nothing really meaningful to do at work + someone really can`t help himself was driving me crazy. So i just had to do something (no new work ofcourse :-D).
I registered with western union germany and tried to send him some money. The first few attempts failed so i had to call western union and after doing so and explaining what i want, it finally worked.
But at this time Akib didn`t allready have the needed money for his mom together and Paypal donations won`t reach him, as Bangladesh is not supported by them...
Knowing that i have an old, fully verified, Paypal account, in combination with western union would be what is needed to get the things on.
Logged in to my old account and wanted to delete the old and allready unused email adress i had registered with them before adding the new help.akib adress.
But they wont let me do this the easy way^^ 2 security questions occured and i didn`t remember what i have chosen as answers years ago. By trying some answers, my entire account got blocked....
So the next phone call. After telling them my story it was a quick and short procedure to get the account back and have a new email adress registered.
Since then till now, 20 people have donated a total amount of 1044 EUR!!!
As there are limitations for me from western union, i have sent him the amount i can. The rest of the money, maybe it is getting some more, will be sent by wire transfer.
Again, i will keep nothing of the money for myself!!!!

Before i went to bed yesterday, i have sent him an email where i passed the last western union transaction number and amount to him. I also wished him a good night and good dreams.


Today:
This was his answer:

I don't know what to say! I can only pray for you.

I have just returned home from mosque to get ready. 3 hours till the bank opens, I'll go out a little early since I have time.

As a Muslim of a 3rd world asian country, we dont have much to live for. Theres not much hope left, add poverty, and corruption to that.
I am one lucky individual to gets to fight for his mothers life, that gives me hopes again.

I am sorry, probably just typing whatever coming to my mind, I am not quite okey. Please pray for my mom if you can, today, me and my mom can really use some wishes.

We are witnessing, firsthand, how people can pull together on their own, putting nationality, religion, politics or whatever keeps us at bay at times in this world aside, and simply do the right thing then the opportunity strikes.
