I am finding that the chart is still freezing after live trading V 1j sends a grid, but the demo version without all the usual Bob stuff is not.

I have removed all the Bob stuff from 1j in post 1. You will know your download has succeeded if CSS/Slope etc inputs are no longer there.

V 1q is in post 1.

I am not getting platform freezes or seeing 'timeout' errors in the log, or having charts randomly closed or ea's booted off the charts, but the bot is still freezing.

There are points in the code where it loops around until something happens. A curiosity of later crapbuilds is that trying to do anything with the ea whilst it is one of these loops causes strange behaviour. The platform freezes for a fair few seconds, often 'paling out'; Task Manager often shows the crapform as "Not responding".

I am seeing this behaviour when I try to pull a fresh instance of the ea onto a frozen one, which suggests to me that the code is stuck in an endless loop somewhere.

I have been through the code and added breakout functionality at the potential bottlenecks; let's see if this helps.

Try this - in the MetaEditor
Open the EA that you want to work on.
Menu> Debug -> Start profiling.
Let it run for a while, in this case a few minutes might tell you loads.
It'll tell you what areas of the code are taking the longest time to execute. I have hear it is better to "remove the EA" than to "Stop Profiling" from the debug menu.

I assume you know about this 'feature' maybe just forgot. Anyways, just trying to help.

Thanks Brian. No, I have not come across this feature before. I assume that 'Count' is the number of times the ea did something such as visit a function or call an iCustom? And that 'Time' is the total amount of time it spent on these activities?

You got it. The percentage is really helpful
Click once on the icons on the left to explode, or double click to go right to the line.
Assuming the dip shits didn't screw up this feature to bad, it is helpful.
Works well on HGI EA's too, or anywhere that your calling a bunch or indicators.
I usually don't use it because my PC doesn't blink when EA's are running, but then I put them on another machines that suffers from lack of CPU and I have to trim down the horsepower. I can see it will be very helpful to you for finding which loop is hurting.

There a video on you tube and an Empty4 help page somewhere if you need more.

Thanks Brian. Much appreciated by all of us.

The latest version with the escape mechanisms fired a UJ grid earlier without freezing, but they do not freeze every time. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

And if that is more freezing then :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg:

Okay so I'm not going crazy! lol

I'm experiencing the exact same behavior on 4 different machines and have tried to slim down on processing power as much as I could and with one on 3Ghz quad core 8GB ram dedicated machine and still exact same results as you described above Steve. Thanks Brian for chipping in! I'm sure you guys will figure it out.

One positive experience out of all this headache I have had is that when the EA runs, it RUNS! with profits. When it freezes that's the only time I'm seeing losses. So from this prospective it tells me that the HGI and this Grid method is very effective. 8-)

I'm just glad it replicated the issue on your side too

For anyone that's feels the need to read up on the code profiler.

Not going, no.

Good news. 1q just closed/deleted EU on a yellow wavy line and sent a GU basket within seconds of one another, both without freezing. Maybe we are getting somewhere. Fingers crossed.

I have been running 1q since you uploaded it Steve and have not had a freeze yet! I think you have gotten it worked out.
