Dewey McG wrote: One of the beauties of this system is that pending orders will keep you out of trouble. Your chart shows the pair already reversing after the crab, but then turning back. If it goes back up it won't hit our pending order. If it continues down then the crab has failed and can be ignored.
Hi, Dewey

I agree. Anyway, if you go 6 bars back you have a valid 10.4 setup to put a pending in WMS1 that should fail if crab finally works. I´m also increasing my risk when harmonics confirming 10.4. :)

I use contradictory patterns as a 'Hold your horses'. In that EURAUD i´m not taking the trade. Just waiting.

Finally I was able to contribute something. Although not that much as I wasn't sure it was that good  (edit: what I meant by that was I missed its potential), I certainly didn't create it - it is courtesy of an indi genius at forex-tsd called mladen. It is free to download in MQ4 format so I am assuming there are no complications there? If there are then people should join forex-tsd (free) and download it themselves. I am never that sure about these types of situations. In my mind if it is available in MQ4, has no associated cost and credit is given then all should be ok but it Steve's forum so his call.

Cheers,
Dave.

10.4 is a clear short but we have a bullish crab warning us that a violent bullish move should be coming (70-80% times crabs are right). I´m a big fan of 10.4 but i added a pattern recognition indi just to avoid pitfalls.

I could have chosen a half dozen comments but I chose yours because it is a more unusual example. The reason I keep my systems simple is for experienced traders to add their experience to it. Whether your Steve, Trader Jack, Dancing Phil (remember him), CMeade or dozens of other traders who have commented you add your experience and knowledge to the system. You will notice I posted ver 4 of 10.4, ver. 1 was based on entering off of MA lines instead of S/R lines. One of those lines was the 50MA that Jack recommended. Since I live in China and my internet connection can be iffy at times, along with other people around the world, I settled on a system that used pending orders instead of a group of MA. Right now I want to find out one thing, hence the volume of my trades,

1. Will 10.4 work the majority of time just by itself?
2. Will 10.4 work in a ranging market? We dont have to change the rules when the market changes direction or ranges. I already know this will blast a trend with reports of returns you can only dream about but will it work when the market ranges for a month or two or three. If it does I have achieved what I thought was impossible. A general set of rules that will work in all markets moves. Yes you will get more SL and bad entrances in a ranging market but the real key is, will it still be profitable. So far so good.

You all ought to thank Frank for his multiple MA EA that never made it here but he spent hours and hours on. He is now adjusting it for S/R lines. I cant thank him enough for his work and dedication. These coders give their money and time to support this community and they dont get the thanks they deserve. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for them. That also includes CandleTiger, Steve, all the different dashboard writers, zoo who gave the pending order scripts and and on and on and on. I feel sorry for the dashboard guys who will have to figure out how a Laguerre with RSI filter works. I have not idea, sorry guys. Just remember I just posted it and want to trade it for a bit. I may like the RSI2/Sto5 better because they give more signals and if I have a weakness in my trading, I love to trade and trade. Overtrading is my weakness.

Right, I saw it on Monday and got in for a while. But then nothing happened. The pair went pretty much flat and RSI(2) fell off. So I got out.
nanningbob wrote:How can you miss it??? Here is your chart. It gave the entrance signal for the entire last half of the week. I showed two spots you could have entered off of that signal. I dont understand how you miss this????
Well that was a good read then. I got out when it went about 35 pips in the hole, so I bailed on that one too. Just because you enter a trade doesnt mean you have to wait until it hits its SL to exit. I exit many trades long before the SL. Most of them I find out later I didnt need to but I still do.

Bob, what made you bail from the trade...?

Wiggy
I had two trades going chf/jpy and cad/jpy. My thought was I had basically two identical trades going and both were going negative. So why have two SL hits. So I kept the chf/jpy and dumped the cad/jpy. The chf/jpy hit the SL and was the smaller hit of the two. In other words the chf/jpy hitting the SL was 50 pips less than the cad/jpy SL, so I took the lesser of two evils. The reward would have been about the same so the chf/jpy had the better R:R ratio.

Any insights?
nanningbob wrote:RSI 2 did too give a signal that is why people were into it. In fact your trade would have entered much earlier giving it a bigger loss. So you point does not hold up. Compare the charts.
My data is very similar to yours. I am on FXCM UK GMT. Looking back at the CADJPY the RSI signal was a continuation of the week before. A tough call this one I think we just have to accept that this like any other strategy is not 100%. The only thing I will add is the fact I personally use the 20ema in my trading, I would prefer to see a candle CLOSE below this MA before setting my further pendings.
I looked at the 20MA very seriously but I didnt think it worked well in ranging markets but works really really good in trending markets. It is being looked at in the 10.5 scalping series though.

I am testing the updates to the S/R by CandleTiger and Laguerre/RSI filter over the RSI2 and STO5.

10.4 TRADERS ignore this post but for Trader Jack I think this would be a quality Pin bar trade, if I understand your system properly. Then again maybe I dont.
