Hi

I see some similarities with CJ's first post...

Time and time again in this thread have people referenced CJ's very first image of the A-K pattern on the EG.

But how many people actually dug back to historical datas to figure out where it came from? The A-K pattern had already been completed on a smaller time-frame, on the entire move, from 1/18/2013 to 1/24/2013.

This is what i've been pondering about "growing patterns", which i posted as a question in this forum looking for guidance, but was instead quite shot down. There are many who have much more experience than me in this aspect, i merely wanted to leave the open-ended question of whether others have seen such things.

CJ mentions a pattern "matures" from the tick-chart. I see it very clearly as these patterns, but one question i have is whether these patterns are linear (such as in these patterns like a ripple turning into a tsunami), or recursive (such as looped within a loop? if that makes sense).

I hope someone may clear up my confusion :hi:

It's a very interesting idea for me that you have, the lower time frames do expand into the larger, so that would be linear, I guess, and the lower time frame pattern is the smaller one on your single time frame move..
Is this 'price mapping' to take the tick chart and run it forward ? :?

Why would you look at the tick charts if patterns mature and show up on higher TFs? By logic, you should be able to find the pattern on lower TFs, no need to find the source pattern on the tick chart and work your way up. You trade what you see right in front of you and not trade something that will happen again some time later.
My experience with patterns...
Once you get your level count right you start to understand price movements as structures and patterns. You look at top, bottom and how price movement unfolds in between, how the levels are built up. If you understand the story, then it is very easy to identify similar patterns in the past either on lower TFs or by looking at different pairs, same TF or lower TF. The point is that you know what you are looking for. I do not use overlapping images, I do not need the visual aid, just look for the same structure. Your best weapon is the zooming tool, same as when you do not know how to count levels, it helps immensly.

Not answering directly to your comment, just sharing my experience hoping it helps those in doubt.

Assume you are walking on a plain. Any sign of a mountain? Nothing.. You walk further on, there is a slope. Wow, that could be a part of a mountain! You walk on and it is still up, on a slope. Slope after slope make up a mountain. Does the slope repeat? Yes, it does, on the same TF (dawidforex). Does it grow up to be a mountain? Yes, from where you started walking up the slope. Is a km long slope similar to a 4 km long slope? Yes, just compress one to see the other. Where does the mountain originate? Where the plain ends and the landscape starts to change. When something matures into.. it means part of to me. How far should you go back to look for the building blocks of a bigger structure? I think as far as the foot of the mountain.
Now, I dont know if this makes sense to you but this is what I consider when looking for patterns. I use them as aids though, do not directly trade them, just found out that when I dont understand price movement, patterns can help clarify things.

Hi.

A really breathtaking approach. I am too thick to understand it. You must know, I am the kind of person that doesnt even believe in homeopathy although everyone around me does. I mean this technique where substances get thinned so much that no single molecule is left and then this missing molecule does miracles.

But ... my little chihuahua baby is ill since some days now and I gave a chance to the alternative healing witch that is accredited by all the farmers in my little rural community here. She instantly started to do her voodoo remotely just by oscillating a picture of my dog and implementing some thuja vibrations through the ether into my poor little doggies genetic information. Bang. If this works, I will not have understood it. But I will forever be a believer.

So I will do with your stuff. Show me trade records, show me movements that you predicted, show me money you earned with this voodoo. Otherwise I would have to take every single "matrix" chart that was posted here and analyze how the trades did at the end. I really dont want to invest my time in this if you guys already know that it would be wasted. So please have mercy with me.

Looking forward to your posts.

Just a friendly advise for those interested in the subject of 'mapping the future':
When you read the whole thread (preferably more than once) you will see that 'mapping the future' based on progressions seen on smaller time frame charts was addressed a couple of times. I think the concept of 'mapping' came back to the forefront every year for a short period and then died.

It was not that there was no validity in this mapping approach ... for CJ. He gave many examples that worked out time after time. He was correct in his predictions too often to consider it to be coincidence. It must be the unique way he sees things or the way his brain is wired.
Many tried to join in with their own mapping attempts, but very few others were able to make it work consistently. So you will see in the thread that after periods of heightened attention for 'source patterns' and 'mapping' the discussions invariably died and the thread reverted to trading levels and cycles.
I surely don't want to discourage anybody in their attempts to map future days/weeks/months. But realize that it is very very difficult to get it right consistently. Do have a look at the information earlier in the thread, it may help you. If you achieve success you will join a truly elite few.

From what I remember CJ stressed that people should forget about longer term mapping as it was too difficult for most. He advised that one should first focus on learning the skills to trade the immediate cycle levels from PH and PL.

Edit: Little clarification

^ This! Why do you need to price map if the cycles and levels from PH and PL is within the price maps - you just need to trade these. KingJay takes it one step further and says the only trade to take is to L2 after the cycle is complete and at PH or PL.

Any doubts, just follow the H1 and H4 patterns from the marked areas of my posted charts. I won't take the time to post them for you, I know where they go.

-CJ-
just a guess but i imagine he made a crap ton of pips from using them together and a map doesn't necessarily contain a cycle.
